Toys and Games Reviews of ThinkFun Rush HourCustomer Review: Fantastic fun! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a Traffic Engineer by profession, and my mother bought the gift for me at Christmas almost as a lark. The problem is that neither I, nor anyone I have shown the game to, can put it down. It certainly seemed easy enough, having done a few of the "beginner" level setups, that I jumped ahead to the "expert" ones. After about a half hour I had to drop back and work my way up through the easier ones. It's great fun for anyone who enjoys a challenge, likes to use their brain, and doesn't mind getting a little frustrated sometimes. At least it's not as bad as getting stuck in a real "rushhour" traffic jam! END
Customer Review: Good for one; 40 and done Summary: 4 Stars
You setup cars & trucks in predetermined positions according to pictures that come with the game, and have to get the red car to drive out of the grid. Good at helping to develop strategy skills. Good for one player, but okay for two - my wife and I work on them together. The game itself is durable - only downside is that the game comes with 40 cards, 10 each of Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert. Once you're done with those 40, you're done with the game unless you want to try some over again. We've played the game on two occassions and are more than halfway through the stack of cards. Kids will (hopefully!) take longer to work through them.
Customer Review: Wow! Summary: 5 Stars
You know, most of the time, companys produce products that don't really focus on the education value of their product. They mainly focus on it's fun value. Well, here you have a toy that is fun, yet highly educational. I gave the fun rating 5 stars, because you always are intrested in the game, even if the frustration is killing you. It just makes it more intresting, and fun. This game is very durable. That's why I gave it 5 stars. The only thing I might want would be laminated puzzle cards. This toy is highly educational (5 stars worth) because it stimulates the mind. Overall, this is an excellent game to take a look at, and play.
Customer Review: Addictive Little Game Summary: 5 Stars
I was never interested in this game and passed it by for years, as it reminded me of those sliding number puzzles I had decades ago where you mix up the numbers and try to get them back in order.
I finally broke down and purchased it at Barnes and Noble when I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket, and realized what an interesting game it really is. It's great for visual and strategic thinking, and it comes with a number of cards, each providing a different challenge. And, for whatever reason, it is really quite fun to slide the plastic cars around on the board.
My kids (6 and 8) love it too.
Customer Review: Great toy Summary: 5 Stars
My kids got this for Christmas and absolutely love it. They are ages 4 and 6. It took a little while to understand the premise of trying to move the cars out of the way to get the red car out, but then they were hooked. THey can play it together and help each other out. It's nice to have a toy that requires them to use problem logic skills, and it can keep the parents busy too. The only negative I have to say is I wish the roads were a bit deeper as my kids have a tendency to knock the cars over accidently as they are not "set-in" to the raods very deep. But I still give it a 5 star as it's one of the games that is both kid and parent approved!
