Toys and Games Reviews of ThinkFun Rush HourCustomer Review: Excellent Game for All Ages Summary: 5 Stars
Some other people have described how the game works better than I could. My 4 year old kept asking Santa for this game because he saw someone else playing it. The game says ages 8 and up, so I figured it was going to be a waste for a couple of years. I was wrong. He LOVES it. And the rest of the family loves it too. At 4 years old he was able to solve some of the beginner puzzles. The intermediate and advanced puzzles are great for adults and teenagers. I agree this is a great problem-solving game. It is also an excellent game to take to restaurants because it is portable and really occupies my son's attention. I think it is a great alternative to electronic games. It gets your kid thinking in a different way! (...).
Customer Review: Great little brain teaser Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this game two years ago and I still play it. I've worked through all of the cards now but the expert ones are hard enough that you can redo them again and again without remembering the moves plus there are additional card packs you can purchase. My son wanted to learn how to play so I set up a beginners level game for him and he zoomed through the first few puzzles in the pack so I bought the junior version for him. He was 3 at the time and he's now 4 and back on the adult version, just hit the expert level today. He's incredibly logical and has excellent spatial reasoning skills, no doubt due in large part to his love of Rush Hour. It's a very educational game for kids and great fun for adults.
Customer Review: Excellent intelligent game for all ages !! Summary: 5 Stars
Games has a simple objective -- get the Red car out of traffice. And boy! it is difficult and changelling at higher level. Set up the *cars* as described in cards and figure out a way to get the Red Car out.The best thing is complexity raange from very easy to very hard. So it captures kids interests and provides the extra incentive to move to the next level !!
Simple rules -- once you have placed the cars on the Grid, you can only move them forward or backward.
A great addition to this game is "Rush Hour 2, 3 and 4 Gift Pack" for less than $12/-. Each set has 40 cards or in total 120 different levels. The highest level is really really difficult. Meant for the "Pros" only !!!
Customer Review: Great game - bad packaging Summary: 5 Stars
Many people have raved about this game, and it truly is good and fun. Our complaint: The packaging that won't let you store it well, leave alone take it places. They graciously include a regular rubber band to put the plastic cover from the packaging back on. But that plastic cover is too flimsy and bendable, won't stay on and has cut my son's hand badly with its sharp edges. The game is not cheap - how much can it cost to include a real lid and greatly increase the game's portability and durability (since you won't loose pieces as easily)? Also, it comes in a box about double the game's size, potentially deceiving store customers and wasting resources. In short: Smart game - dumb packaging!
Customer Review: Well worth a buy! Summary: 4 Stars
This is an excellent game. It certainly kept our children busy for many hours on a wet camping holiday in France. The only arguments were over who would have it next, as it is very much a one player game. The little plastic pieces are fairly durable, though they may get lost. The idea is quite simple - get the red car out of the traffic jam by maneouvering all the pieces along and up and down. It is very surprising how tricky some of the puzzles (you have a pack of cards with the starting positions) can be. The idea behingd this puzzle will not be new to people who are familiar with 'sliding block' puzzles. There is a version of this game on the web so you can 'try before you buy'!
