I went to a science workshop with my child's second grade class. They were studying balls and ramps. This toy was there for them to explore (among many hand made experiments). The children were drawn to it and then made their own versions. Very education and extremely fun! I bought it for all my nieces and nephews afterward! I gave this to my grandson, age 7, and he loves it. He has so much fun setting up the pieces in different patterns. It's a great toy to show his creativity and problem solving. Only drawback is you need to use an appliance. We are looking into making some kind of a self standing unit, and then he will be able to use it anywhere.Customer Review: A family favorite!

Bought this for my 8 year old nephew who loves science stuff. He loves figuring out new ways to set it up and ways to fix problems. So does the rest of of the family! We've been changing it up since November and it's January now!
A lot of fun and teaches neat concepts (can you tell I'm the teacher)!

I've purchased several of these sets and they are always a huge hit! Everyone will love them, from a toddler to the engineers that work in my office. One word of warning: Beware the vortex under the fridge. You will never see your marble again...MWA HA HAAAA! I bought this for my kids (8 and 4) for Christmas 2006. It's been six months and both of them still play with it nearly every day. To entertain two such different children in such different age brackets is pretty rare, and I must admit to setting it up a few times myself. This is a great toy.
