Toys and Games Reviews of The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition with Blue Eyed North Pole Pixie-ElfCustomer Review: So much fun! Summary: 5 Stars
This was the most fun I had with my kids all season! They loved it. I thought the idea was cute so I bought it, but I didn't know if they would really like it. They LOVED it. Every morning they woke up and the first thing they had to do was look for the elf. They walked around the whole house calling his name. I loved finding new and fun places for him to "land" each morning. They were very serious about not touching him, they didn't want him to lose his magic! This will definitely be a tradition for years to come. I recommend this to anyone. It really got us in the holiday spirit and possible helped my boys behave a little better because they knew the elf was watching! LOVE IT!!!!
Customer Review: A great family activity! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great way to get ready for the Christmas season. I bought this for my family and got it after Thanksgiving and we loved it! My daughter, 3 years old, got so excited about our Elf on the Shelf and enjoyed reading the book several times. She remembers all his hiding spots and couldn't wait to see where he was going to hide the next day. He really helped our daughter to remember to behave and use her manners this month, so much that we are sad to see him go! A version of this for all holidays would be great! This would make a great gift for anyone with small children or beginning their family. It's a little pricey, however it is something you can look forward to each year.
Customer Review: Never lose a child's heart Summary: 5 Stars
Wanted a fair skin, blue eyed elf for my blonde, blue eyed grandchildren which is hard to find. This elf is perfect and very well constructed. The book that accompies it is educational and adds the sense of reality for the non-believer! Pricing for the elf is the best I found in my 2 years of searching for it. My daughter puts it up the day after Thanksgiving and moves it every day. The children look for it first thing every morning and it adds to a positive and joyful discipline experience. They "know" they are being watched by Santa's elf and never know where the elf will show up. It is absolutely a family tradition that maintains a child's heart. I hope they never lose it.
Customer Review: More ideas on how to use the elf Summary: 5 Stars
We use the elf a little different than the book. Our elf arrives the night of thanksgiving while our daughter is asleep. He shows up with a small toy, dollar store or something very small, and then leaves every night to visit Santa and tell him how the day went. When he comes back the next day he drops of a small toy and shows up in a different place. We find this calms down the excitement from the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Christmas Eve's gift is always Christmas PJ's and a good bye note. Yes she does get a gift every night but it something simple as a new pencil for school to even just a note of encouragement for something that may have happened that day.
Customer Review: Fun and Great Tradition Summary: 3 Stars
The Elf on the Shelf is so cute. I have a lot of fun hiding him in new spots every night and then watching my kids try to find him in the morning. The idea is great, but it's not really worth the money. If I could do it again, I would just buy a cute elf doll from a craft store for a couple dollars and tell the story instead of reading the book. You can register your elfs name on the Elf on the Shelf website, but it doesn't do anything fun after that. You just enter in the name and that's it, nothing special. You can upload a pic, but I've never been able to get my photo to load. Maybe the site just gets overloaded. Bottom line, buy an elf doll yourself and save the $30.
