Toys and Games Reviews of The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition with Blue Eyed North Pole Pixie-Elf

Customer Review: Your very own Elf
Summary: 5 Stars

Our book and Elf arrived in our home on Thanksgiving and my daughter eagerly read the book and watched us put Elfin on our TV. She knew from the book that each night Elfin would fly to the North Pole and report to Santa. We never scared her with that if she disobeyed he'd cancel Christmas, but said that he was watching her. Every morning she'd come out of her room with a huge smile on her face searching for Elfin. She is looking forward to seeing him arrive at our home this next year!

I got 2 extras for gifts for friends and family and it was a huge hit in their home too!

Customer Review: Don't do it
Summary: 1 Stars

Yes my children loved this, but I thought it was creepy. This sounds like a wonderful idea until you get sick of moving the stupid elf everynight. One night you'll lie awake in bed and remember, damn it, I forgot to move the elf. Then wait until the kids tell their other friends about "their elf" and their friends don't have an elf, and then they call your kid a liar. Year after year until you can't take it anymore and you can't move the thing another 30 days another year and you finally tell them that you are the elf on the shelf and then your kids cry. I'm not making this up.

Customer Review: Fun tradition
Summary: 5 Stars

I have two girls, ages 4 and 3. I bought this as a way to "remind" them to be good, that Santa is watching. We read the book the day after Thanksgiving and I put the Elf on the shelf. I moved it after they fell asleep and the tradition began! Each morning my daughter would wake me up and pull me around the house to find the Elf. The hardest part about this was remembering to move him. It was a fun, easy thing to do and my girls really got into it. I honestly don't think you have to buy this product to start the tradition but the book explains it all so that ties it all together.

Customer Review: Great idea for kids
Summary: 5 Stars

I seen the Elf when I was visiting my neice and nephew in NC and seen how they really minded their ps and qs. All they had to say was Sparkle (the elfs name) is watching you and they corrected whatever they were doing. I bought this for my nephew in TN and he does the same thing. This is a great tradition that is fun and will continue for many years in our family. I will do this when I have children as well. Great fun that the whole family can get involved in. If you have bigger kids then they can help the elf fly at night. Great to let them keep the dream alive a little longer.

Customer Review: Great new tradition
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased this around Thanksgiving last year and my son (age 4) LOVED 'elf' - as he so creatively named it LOL

even now, in march, hes still talking about 'Elf'

there were several times elf forgot to move, and we decided tht sometimes he liked a spot so much he stayed there a couple of days! LOL

i loved finding different ways to hide him - he hung upside down from our kitchen chandelier... hid in xmas tree branches... on top of the curtain rod...even on top of the ceiling fan! My son loved coming out to find him each morning!
