My friend just got this real cool ATM. At first I was kinda skeptical, like, does it give you play money??? But then my friend put in her card, entered her PIN, and, like magic... she was able to view her balance, withdraw money, and deposit!!!! The only trouble we had with it was when we were using it too roughly and the drawer-thing broke of... but we could easily put it back on. This is a great toy! My oldest recieved it 2 years ago for Christmas. He was only 5 and loved it! Now he is 7 and his brother is 5 and they both use it. It is great. It really helps them realize that when you save your money it really adds up! My daughter is 2 and everytime she finds a penny or change she sayd "Uh-Oh! Bank!!" And goes to find the ATM. I bought this bank for both my son and daughter, and they love it. It is a little noisy, but very fun to use. The bank makes them enter in the amount they are depositing, or withdrawing, and then gives them a running balance. This helps them understand the concept of keeping track of their spending, because they see their balances get smaller after every withdraw. This toy has been a really good tool for teaching my daughter how to manage money. It functions just like an ATM and it led us to having a really good discussion about "credit" versus "debit". The bill feed got jammed once but the same thing happens on snack machines at work (you feed the bill in and it spits back out) so this was not unexpected. My 5 y.o. son asked ATM machine but unfortunately there are not much to choose from. This one has a big minus - you open lower compartment if ATM is filled everything is falling out. It also does not dispense money, you take as much as you want and machine does not automatically track it. It can't be really used as piggy bank.
Neverless my son LOVED it for a week and then stop playing with it.
