This is the best thing I have bought myself in a long time. Anyone with an ounce of creativity and an appreciation for natural beauty or interest in science will love this.
Look up some videos of this thing in action. Everything you see in the video is seriously that easy to do with fairly minimal practice. Plus, the number of things they show in said videos is a small fraction of all the cool stuff I've done and seen friends do with these. Despite all this versatility, every ball is identical and incredibly simple in design. They're a great parallel to natural phenomena, like atoms. Each component is very simple, and yet, in aggregate, they can form all sorts of unique structures and can behave very strangely under certain circumstances. Certain shapes are inherently more stable than others, and will almost form by accident, while others are very unstable, and collapse very easily.
Durability - I've had no problems with durability so far, and I've played with these a lot.
Also, in my opinion, you should probably buy this "NeoCube" version because it seems to be the "original" one. Other companies make these as well (look at the "similar product" links), and they all seem equally high-quality, so I figured it's worth ignoring any minor price difference or attractiveness of packaging and support the person/company who first thought to make these.
