Toys and Games Reviews of Step2 WaterWheel Activity Play TableCustomer Review: Tons of Water Fun!! Summary: 5 Stars
My one-year-old son recieved this table as a birthday present from his grandparents. It was an instant hit not only with him but with all the other kids at the party, whose ages ranged from 4 - 9!
My son plays in it nearly every day, just splashing and walking around the table, moving around the objects. He is still very young, but it doesn't appear to be losing any appeal for him. The plastic is very durable and so far it doesn't appear to be fading in the sun.
One sad note is that a local dog got in our yard and got a hold of one of the little sailboats, chewed on it and left it cracked and covered with dog-teeth marks. So if you have dogs, you might keep them away from the toys! (But wouldn't you do that anyway?!)
Excellent toy!
Customer Review: Perfect for one year old! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this water table for my daughter's first birthday and actually had it set up outside for her birthday party. The little one year-olds, as well as my three year-old newphew, loved the table. My daughter enjoys taking the toys out and pouring water all over herself. She's too young to really understand the water wheel and tries to take it down. However, the table has provided hours of fun and is easy to set up and more convenient than a baby pool. We live in California, so it will be a toy we can use well throughout the year. Even when there is no water in it, my girl and her friends like to pile toys in the table and take them back out . . . just make sure an adult is anchoring the table since it easily can be pulled over when there is no water in it!
Customer Review: Great for the price Summary: 4 Stars
Given the price, this is a great water table. It's simple--kids don't need much. It's nice that it is small, so it is easy to dump out and clean out. My only complaints are that I wish Step 2 had considered putting it on 4 legs and using sturdier legs (a cover would be nice, too). I like using this table with "Moon Sand", shaving cream and other messy stuff, but without the weight of the water the table is very prone to tipping. I also have the Step 2 "sand and water" table, and we only use sand in that one because it's too hard to clean the water side out (it gets slimy and really needs to be wiped and hosed out). Also the sand and water table has a drain plug, which my 2 year old likes to remove :) so it's a good thing that this table does NOT have a drain plug.
Customer Review: Great Summer Toy! Summary: 5 Stars
My 2&1/2 year old absolutely LOVES this table. We purchased a sand table and this water table separate. I read another review that bought the two functions in one table which sated the sand and water get mixed together so much that all the fun parts of the water side get clogged, therefore I bought them separate. He could play in this ALL day! He sinks the boats, pours the water in the funnel and watches the wheel turn, and even just watches the water pour out of buckets. It can be hard with two kids at the same time, but a great reminder of how to SHARE. Definitely need to have another pouring device or two as you add playmates. Don't plan on your child staying dry by any means. It's not a pool, but it looks like your child was in one when they are done.
Customer Review: Her Eyes Light Up When it Comes Out! Summary: 4 Stars
Our 1 year old received this for Christmas, and her eyes lit up when she saw it set up in the kitchen that morning. We live in the Mid-West, so until it warms up a bit, she gets to play with it occasionally in the kitchen, and we get to clean up the mess! Let's be clear - no matter how little water we put in it, it turns into watery fun for ALL. (Even from 3 feet away..)
But she loves playing with it; with the boats, the water wheel, and the little ramp too. It encourages her to stand and get lots of exercise for her little leg muscles. She also practices her balance while trying to manipulate multiple toys at the same time.
The toy is sturdy and very easily set up. We will be thrilled when we have the opportunity to keep it outside!
