Toys and Games Reviews of Step2 WaterWheel Activity Play Table

Customer Review: Not the Safest Toy
Summary: 3 Stars

My 2 yr old nephew got this as a gift for his first birthday and still plays with it. He loves it! It is a great, durable, quality toy that has NOT faded in the sun. My nephew is a water baby so this is perfect for him. However, one day when he was told that he could not go swimming until his mother finished the dishes he proceeded to take off his shorts and diaper and climb into his water table. We have a great picture of the little rascal sitting in his water table playing with his boats and subs.

This is a great toy that requires constant adult supervision. My sister was doing the dishes watching him through the kitchen window the day he climbed in the table, thank goodness. When he was younger my mother was watering flowers next to him when decided to try and drink the water out of the table. He proceeded to stand on his tip-toes stick his head in and fall over into the top of the table. My mother quickly pulled him out since he was unable to right himself on his own. This happened in an instant so parents please be careful!!!

Customer Review: not exactly a 'Perfect' toy
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this for my 16 months old daughter. I liked the idea that this was only a water table and not one of those water and sand table because I didn't want my daughter mixing the two and causing a mess. I didn't mind that it didn't have a lid since I'm keeping it indoors. My child loves it. But I did come upon a big problem, two to be exact. The plugs on each of the chambers of the table leaks. I thought it was a fluke so I went back to the store and exchanged the first table for another one. I had the same problem with the second table. After that, I decided to call the 1-800 # for Step 2. The customer service guy told me to put vaseline around the seal of the plug to 'see if that'll help'. I told me I don't want a quick fix, I want the problem fixed. He agreed to send me two replacement plugs free of charge. I called about a week ago and I'm waiting for the parts to arrive. I hope the new plugs will work this time. My daughter really likes the toy and I hope I don't have to return it and switch to a different brand all together.

Customer Review: Add sand to make a fun, wet, messy sand table. Kid's love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought two of these, one for a gift and one for my kids. Both of them were a hit. We had an unseasonable cold summer, so many pools around here in the Pacific N.W. were not filled up, and these little water tables were great for the days the pool couldn't be filled up. The one we gave as a gift, we found out, was a hit with the kids. The one I gave to my kids was a hit the first week they had it, but soon, it was not being played with. I decided to take some sand from our sandbox and turn this water table into a sand/water table. Of course, you'll want to remove all the toys that came with the table, including the tower. Wow! The sand/water table was a HIT all summer with not only my kids, but cousins and play dates always would gravitate towards this table and play with messing wet sand. All you need are some sand digging tools and sand buckets from the dollar tree, to top it off. Also, you can buy 'Play Sand' from HomeDepot, a big bag for only $3. So if your little ones get bored with just playing with water, try adding sand.

Customer Review: My Toddler Loves This!
Summary: 5 Stars

Our 2-year-old son loves the outdoors but our yard isn't large enough for a massive playground. This water table is a wonderful alternative that keeps his attention for longer periods of time than most toys (most parents can sympathize with the attention part!) Also, for those hot days that normally would persuade the family to keep indoors, this product allows us to have some fun together, splashing each other, and making the water wheel turn. We decided on this product versus other activity tables because its main focus is water - no sand, which tends to get everywhere and is difficult to keep out of the house. In terms of set-up, it takes a whole 5-10 minutes and that's if you actually read the directions. The plastic construction is smooth with no sharp edges which is a plus. It is just the right height for our son and if we use it through next year, it will be worth every penny and then some. By they way, the cost is very reasonable and we got it 3 days after placing the order. Hope this helps others make a decision.

Customer Review: Great table for fun
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter has always really liked the water, so we got her this table to play with on the patio. She loves it! She's still learning to stand and move around @ 8 mo. and the table is sturdy enough for her to pull up on and hang on to for balance (supervised of course). She really likes watching the water wheel go around and splashing away!

The drain does leak a little, but it's not a big deal. When we're done playing with the water, it gets dried off and brought inside as an additional play table. We stick toys in it and she walks around the edges playing with the toys in the middle.

Great value for the money. I had looked at a bunch of the other reviews on combo sand and water tables and saw good advice to keep sand and the water as separate activities to avoide a big mess. We'll get her a sand box when she's older, since she's still too young to have sand - it would just get eaten.
