Purchased this sandbox over the weekend before going to see Finding Nemo. Wow! What a find! We have been searching for a larger size plastic sandbox and this one is it. This fits our three children plus still has leg room. Sandbox was filled with seven 40lb bags of sand, and still could hold more.
The best feature is the super large and high lid. Ever try to store larger sand toys under a small lid? Doesn't work! This lid is large enough to fit even the biggest pails.
Another feature that I personally love is the color. No obnoxious red or green for the backyard. Nice to have a sandbox that dosn't stand out.

I bought the same sandbox for my older child 7 years ago, and it was very durable and heavy. I gave it away several years ago, but when I wanted a new one for my toddler, I ordered the same sandbox again. It looks the same (which I like) but it isn't nearly as durable and heavy as the original was. The plastic is very thin and bends easily. Overall though, my two year loves it and plays in it nearly every day. There is enough room for two kids to play easily together, and I like that it has the lid to close it at night. As far as it goes, this sandbox was much less expensive than the original, and for the price was still a good buy.Customer Review: Safe Sand

Great sand pit! However buy safe sand. There are 4 grades of sand(Fill, plaster, masonary, and Play) and only one grade is suitable for children's sand boxes:play sand. It should be silica free (depending on the state you live in) and is often sterilized. For this reason it is more expensive than the fill sand that is sold in the hardware store. Crystalline silica, a colorless mineral, also called quartz, is an ingredient in sand, exposure to crystalline silica dust can cause lung diseases such as silicosis, inhaling airborne crystalline silica dust also has been associated with other diseases such as tuberculosis and lung cancer.

I purchased this sandbox when I saw how much fun my little grandson had when visiting his cousin. The design is very classic and goes with any house decor and isn't one of those primary colored toys that so many are today. He's 2 years old and it's the perfect size for him and a playmate. He needs to play in it every day or he voices his displeasure. One of the best investments I've made yet. It's gotten a lot of use in the short time he's had it. To say he loves it is an understatement. And Amazon is the best place to deal with. No hassels and we get a speedy delivery. Not to mention the free shipping.
