I purchased this sand box after reading many reviews from other parents who had purchased it. I to like the look and the size of the sand box. I did not relish having a big green turtle on my deck for the next few years. This sand box looks great and can even be used as a planter when my daughter outgrows it. As another reader mentioned earlier, the lid is very rounded and bigger sand toys fit in the sand box with the lid on. This is great so you don't have to pull all of the toys out and store them separately. The ONLY complaint I have about the sand box so far is the lid can blow off easily in the wind. Step2 should try and add some kind of latch or something so it doesn't blow off as easily.
I highly recommend this sand box. Its a little more expensive than others, but definately a great product as always from Step2.

I did a lot of research on sand boxes before choosing this one. We are very happy with it. It's tasteful, very durable, practical and tons of fun. We have had no problem with water leakage or the lid blowing off. The lid fits better than any of the other sand boxes we tested. There are mixed reviews as to how many children can play in this comfortably but I think it really depends on how your child plays. When alone, my son gets in the sand, when friends play over, they tend to all kneel on the outside. Either way it works great and is very fun. I think 2-3 is ideal for this sandbox but 4 have played in ours and still had fun without any problems. I do think the shape of this sand box is more conducive to multiple children playing in it as opposed to the round ones. Get this one!Customer Review: Not As Big As You Would Hope!!

Be warned, this sandbox is NOT any bigger than the Little Tykes Dinosaur or Step 2 Crabbie. It's rectangular, but skinny, and at the ends it's even narrower than in the middle. The interior measure is 44 1/2 X 31 at it's biggest point. The Dino and Crab is about 36 X 36 square. So, really no difference. It is attractive, yes, and durable. But if you're looking for a BIG sandbox, keep looking. And good luck!! I don't know WHY they can't make a LARGE sandbox with a cover. Very frustrating. If you really need a big one, I'd suggest a big pool with a cover. At least they're making larger pools these days. Also, the cover has no area on it where you can easily grab it and pick it up. It's a bit awkward trying to pick it up and hold onto it with no indentation or handle at all.Customer Review: 20-month old son loves it!

We bought this sandbox for our 20-month old son and he is in love. He now looks at the backdoor and says "Outside! Outside!". So far it seems like a sturdy sandbox. I like that it is considerably bigger than the standard turtle sandbox everyone carries. His friends can come over and play and there is room for everyone. I've even sat on the little blocks on the side and played with him. We filled ours with 140 punds of crayola sand, which was a little pricey. It could definitely take some more sand but with the price being so high and our son's tendency to throw it out of the box, we are making do with the 140 pounds. The lid seems a little light and doesn't attach in any way so we put a rock on the top to weigh it down in case of strong winds.Customer Review: We love this sandbox

We got this sandbox for my daughter's first birthday. She loves it! I am so pleased with it too because it is beautiful. At first I didn't want to get a sandbox because most of them are an eye sore. When my husband showed me this I was so excited! I can't wait to get the matching table. OK so about the functionality...the lit fits great and absolutely no water gets in when it rains (keeps the cats out too) it is sturdy and you can sit on the edge to play if you don't want sand all over your clothes. It is not huge but it is big enough for one parent and one kid to play in or two-three kids. If you are looking to get a sandbox that is attractive and functional, fun and durable this is your best bet! I highly recommend it!
