Toys and Games Reviews of Step2 Naturally Playful Sand and Water Activity CenterCustomer Review: We use just water in this and LOVE it!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this table a bit over a week ago and we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! I have twin 2 1/2 year olds and they can't get enough of it. We are using is as a water table only so I drain the one side and then just tip it up to dump the other, no problem. I love the umbrella to reduce their sun exposure. The nice stone color is great too, it blends in with the house rather than the red/blue/green of other molded plastic toys. A couple things other people had concerns about that I found helpful to know- Don't cut the black cords holding the lid on, these are elastic and just pull off so you can put the lid on tightly between uses. The instructions are inside so some people have cut it. Someone mentioned not being anywhere to store the umbrella?!? I just put in back into the table before I put the lid on like it was when I purchased it. As for the legs not being sturdy I think some people have over loaded with sand (only holds 40 lbs) and the other thing is when you install the screws keep turning until the plastic on the legs doesn't buckle in but is pulling back tight against the table frame. Enjoy, we sure love it!
Customer Review: Sturdy little table Summary: 5 Stars
This table has been great fun for our three daughters! We mostly use it as a water table because at their ages (3 and two at 2) they would rather play with water than sand. The sand was fun for a while but when the younger ones started pouring too much water into big sister's sand projects it was anarchy.
The only problem I have had is that SOMEhow water has leaked to the hollow inside of the table so that even after you drain the water you can hear it sloshing around when you move it - and it drips slowly from one end. Don't ask me how the water got in there.
It was easy to assemble (use a drill and not a screwdriver) and the umbrella is great and it's height adjustable. I wish it were more difficult to adjust the height though because if you have innovative children they will soon figure out how to lower it - and then it comes crashing down on other childrens' heads!
I would also like to find out how to get a replacement umbrella because after two summers at high elevation it is pretty brittle now and has torn in a few places. Overall our kids have really enjoyed this and it was worth it!
Customer Review: great table, long-lasting Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this table for my daughter when she was 18 months old, and she is now five and still plays with it. I wanted a sand table rather than a sand box to keep the neighborhood cats out, and this one has a sturdy cover that is easy to remove and replace. The umbrella is still in great condition; we are careful to put it in the sand box before we close it to prevent wear and tear. The table is low enough for a toddler but high enough for 5-year-olds to enjoy too. There is a plug in the water side that makes it easy to empty the water after play. It is big enough for three kids to play at the same time.
There are only two drawbacks: it was difficult to screw in the legs through the plastic; I actually did not do this for some months (and it was sturdy without), but my husband was later able to get the screws in, and that makes it very sturdy indeed. The other drawback is simply the mess of mixing sand and water, and that is simply the result of enthusiastic play. Don't expect the sand to stay in the sand side!
I have recommended this to many friends and am completely satisfied; an excellent product.
Customer Review: The greatest sand and water table! Summary: 5 Stars
Our twin sons turned a year old a few days ago, and this water table is one of their favorite gifts...
We dont use sand in it because of the sand incidents with sandboxes, but have used all water, and extra rocks for a fish aquarium (NOT USED THOUGH!) and it works great! Its pretty large, but not too tall, so just be careful! We actually noticed the weakness in the middle, and just placed a barrel (PERFECT SIZE!) underneath and have no worries! It has a bridge, tracks, and a whole landscape making it fun for everyone! The water drains out easily, (we put ours on our deck, theres no worry about slipping because it goes right through the cracks between the wooden boards). The cover stays on perfectly, doesnt slip off (and of course we left on the bungy cords, or else it wouldnt stay!) and its still fun because theres tracks for their matchbox cars! Its durable, doesnt fall, doesnt leak, and the umbrella (navy, not black) stays put and does its job...
This toy is just so much fun, its easy to put together and is worth all of the "hassle" to see the twins smiles!
Customer Review: Lots of Fun Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this sand/water table last Summer after my daughter played with a friend's table. My daughter luv'd it as soon as she saw it. After all, what kid doesn't like to play in sand and water? She can spend long stretches of time playing with this table which is really saying something about the fun factor of this table. I do like that it is raised, so she can stand beside it or sit in a chair and play in it, yet the dog can't get into it. I also like the removable umbrella which keeps her shielded from the harmful sun rays. I especially like the lid with the rubber hinges. She can remove it and lock it down without any help from us. We left this table outside thru the winter and it was covered with 40 inches of snow (yes we had a lot of snow), and after the snow had melted, the table still looked good. Also because of the lid, no bug or dirt in the sand...we just started playing with good clean sand. Lots of fun for both of us. Overall, this is a good investment that will be played with for years to come.
