I purchased this toy chest to replace the changing table in my sons playroom. While we no longer used it for changing diapers, but it had a drawer where we could keep all his pull-ups and night-time diapers, and two large shelves underneath that held a ton of his bulkier toys. I've been searching for a toy chest big enough to handle some of my sons larger toys, but with enough room for anything new that he may acquire. This is PERFECT!
The shelf on top holds pull-ups and diapers, while the chest itself holds all the toys that were on the changing table with ease. There's PLENTY of room in here for more stuff, and the top is easy for him to lift and slide back. Oh, and putting this together could not be easier. It comes in 3 parts...the bottom, the top, and the door. Place the door on the bottom half, attach the top to the bottom, and screw in 2 screws...SIMPLE! I had this out of the box and filled with toys in under 10 minutes!
I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a toy box. The little wood ones were cute, but not nearly big enough, and some of the larger boxes were way more than I was looking to spend. The Step2 chest is a great size, a great price, and a breeze to put together...what more could you want?

First, let me start by saying that I was more than pleased with this product. I love the quality and durability of the Step 2 items that I have purchased so when I saw this online I had to have it. Being the frequent Amazon customer that I am, I immediately came here to find and buy the product, until I saw what they were trying to charge for shipping! Although the Toys R Us website sells the product for $79.99, the website says it's only available online. I picked this up at my local Toys R Us store and they had both the red and pink colors. Huge waste of time if you ordered this online!!
Again, I love the product. It was super simple to put together. Only 4 steps and although the manual says a screw driver is all that is needed I HIGHLY recommend using a power drill. I'm not sure how anybody would be able to assemble it without one as there are no holes where the screws are supposed to go. I rated it a 5 for educational value because my three year old loves it so much that he's learning to clean up after himself and we make fun games out of it. (Let's clean up everything that has red on it)

I got this toy box today, Ordered it on the 19th. Came a few days earlier then expected.
First off, I have to applaud the easy set up. A couple snaps here and there and 2 screws, took me probably 5 minutes if that to put it together and get it in the living room.
Second- Wow space, the toy box is alot bigger then I expected. First thing my almost 3 year old did was climb in it and she fit even with all her stuffed animals and blocks put in it.
Now about that darn screw alot of reviews are talking about, its the middle of the screw and my daughter noticed it before me and I highly doubt anyone could get hurt from that.
I really think this is one of the best toy boxes out there, even with the shelf being a little to small. My daughter can climb on the top shelf and sit on it so its not to incredibly small and very stable.
However maybe not worth the 80$, Id say 60$.

I love this toybox! We got it as a toybox for our living room. It is made of a sturdy plastic so spills are easy to wipe off. It is well designed in that it is bottom heavy even without toys and isn't easily knocked over. There are no sharp edges and the plastic is hollow so banging into it doesn't cause ouchies. There is a gap between the lid and the toy box so little fingers can get in there and easily lift the lid. The lid rolls easily back into the top and stays in place. Note that the shelf part doesn't have a solid back but it does have a high lip so books can't fall behind the toybox. The box comes as one solid piece, no assembly required.
One thing to note though, we got this a *lot* cheaper by going to Menards. I believe we paid $50 for this toy box with the red lid.
