I bought them to cover the floor of my screened in porch where we keep a lot of out door toys. I was hoping to cut down on scapes and bumps from playing and falling of my 4 year old daughter and 18 month old son. It's the best thing ever. It's soo easy to clean and put together. It's soo comfortable to sit on the ground and play with them. We spend soo much more time out there now!!! I can't say enough.Customer Review: Not perfect but they work...

Pros: thicker than other playmats, larger pieces/squares, no alphabet or number cutouts to worry about, durable.
Cons: not the most attractive color and no other color choices, don't fit/puzzle together super easy (but seem to stay together once you do link them), expensive (because you will need to buy more than 1 set of 4 unless you just have a small square area you want to pad).

Based on all the good reviews, I purchased 4 sets of these for my 7 months old baby girl. I couldn't be happier. She just learnt how to sit-up and I don't want all those extra pillows around her. These mats are life saver. She can sit-up and play with her toys and I don't have to worry about her falling on head if I don't catch her fast enough. I owned a cheaper ones before and they were so thin and flimsy, I decided to spend a little more money and get this set! I'm so glad I did! I live in a second floor apartment, I have two boys 3 and 5, So I got this play mats to cover all high traffic areas as a soundproofing! Now the kids are free to play around! Great product! Super easy to install, safe, and durable ( I've only had the mats for a few weeks but they've held up in the Seattle rain great so far!) I used them for our concrete backyard for our 1 year old and I feel so much better about her safety there now. The only thing is that I wish the mats came in other colors. I really wanted green! Overall, I would definitely recommend to others!
