Toys and Games Reviews of Step2 24-Inch Playmats (1 set of 4 mats)Customer Review: Reduce the boo-boo's ... Summary: 5 Stars
New wood floors and two little babes... Yikes! What to do?
We bought 2 sets of these blue mats originally (sort of pricey, we thought) and ended up buying 2 more sets because we feel they are definitely worth it. Our kids (3 and 1 years old) can roughhouse and learn to somersault without getting tearful.
Rugs are an option we have used in other parts of the house, but they do not seem to provide as much cushion, and they do not clean up as easily when they are spilled on. So far, a wet washcloth has worked fine on any food residue.
One final note: Trucks roll gracefully and lego's and such have no problem standing up on the mats.
Customer Review: oily residue Summary: 4 Stars
Very sturdy and thick mats so even an adult can sit or stand on it and it won't dent. I have hardwood floors so I needed something for my baby to play on. It does have a oily residue on these mats so I do recommend putting it on a rug pad so it doesn't slide or leave that oil on the floors. I thought it would be easy to wipe off with floor cleaner (Bona) but that oil is still there and it is very slick if you are wearing socks and you walk across it so be careful! Might need to use soap to clean it off. Also, I do recommend to put a blanket down over it because I don't want that oil on my baby's face when she face plants on it while doing tummy time.
Customer Review: Perfect surface for baby to play and practice walking Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two sets. I am ordering two more sets to cover the whole room. I find the simple blue much better for our nine month old baby. The mats with patterns and colors are just too busy and over stimulating; they remind me of being in Las Vegas. The simple blue is much more tolerable and they are less expensive.
The mats have been very helpful for our baby's walking practice. They are not slippery like hardwood floor and they provide the much appreciated soft landing . They are also better than carpet both for having thicker cushion and being washable.
The price seems reasonable but the shipping cost seems to be rather high.
Customer Review: Found a cheaper set at Ross! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two sets of alphabet playmats for my daughter Jaena at a more reasonable price at Ross. They're more vibrant in color, and more educational than plain blue mats. I've found use for them since my daughter was 4 months. They're great in keeping my carpet clean from spit-up and food. And I was more comfortable with her learning to crawl and walk on the mats than any other flooring. We even got a mini-mat set at Ross which she loves building blocks with. Ross even has an animal puzzle alphabet set. Its almost half the price toysrus is charging. If you have a Ross store close by, its worth the look to see if they have it in stock.
Customer Review: Very happy with the purchase Summary: 5 Stars
I have been looking for a mat for my 8 month old baby girl. We moved to a new apartment and I was not very comfortable with her playing on the carpet, since I was not sure how old the carpet is. I used to put comforter on the floor and it would not stay in place. I looked at few play mats in stores and did not like them because they were too thin or too hard. I also saw some others that were way too expensive. This mat is perfect. It is right thickness and is comfortable for her. It's also easy to clean too. I just use Clorox Anywhere spray on it. My daughter sits and plays with her toys on it, she is also trying to crawl now.
