Toys and Games Reviews of Sprig Toys Eco Recycling-TruckCustomer Review: A Recycled recycling truck? Don't mind if I do! Summary: 5 Stars
Thank you, Sprig, for continuing to create eco-friendly products that are reasonably priced, durable, and highly enjoyable. My 22 month old son is enamored with his Sprig trucks, and we love them, as well. Light weight- easy to transport to the beach, etc. Durable- gets dropped, kicked, and rammed into things. Hasn't shown so much as a scratch. Smells LOVELY. I keep sniffing it. Sprig integrates wood chips into the trucks, so they smell like a real wood shop. Sniff sniff. Awesome. This truck comes with a small blue bucket that can attach to the back, for filling and dumping. As with his other Sprig truck, the bed of the truck can be locked into place by a slider bar underneath- very convenient for letting younger children enjoy the truck, without getting frustrated.
And speaking of frustration, I love the Frustration-Free packaging. My husband simply slit the top of the box from Amazon open, and let our 22 month old have at it. He got the truck out of the box, and out of its' packaging, in under a minute, and was very proud of himself. Good job, Amazon. Keep it up! You are saving countless parents a lot of headache, especially on Christmas Eve- in our house, Santa sets up the toys he brings, which has resulted in a lot of cursing and swearing. Last year was wonderful, with the Frustration-Free products we got. Thanks again!!!
Description of Sprig Toys Eco Recycling-TruckThe sturdy green recycling truck from innovative toymakers Sprig is made of their trademarked "Stigwood" -- an composite of reclaimed wood and recycled plastic. Like other Sprig toys, it's not painted. Instead, it's dyed during the production process with safe pigments that have no heavy metals in them. This truck is good for the environment, and a joy to play with, too. A recycling bin is included that can be picked up and emptied into the truck, and there are plenty of other moving parts to keep children ages two and older entertained. Expertly Crafted Truck is Ready for Rough-and-Tumble Play All the parts on this expertly crafted truck function well, from the big tires to the mechanism that empties the recycling bin. The Sprigwood material is durable and sturdy, and all the parts will stand up to rough play. The levers and knobs that control the truck's mechanisms are big and easy to grasp -- just the right size for a child's hand. The truck is a cheerful green color flecked with bits of sawdust, which makes a nice change from the shiny, cheap plastic seen in so many toys today. The garbage can is the only small, detachable part, and it could get lost if kids don't pay attention. Teaches Kids About Recycling The truck can do everything a real recycling truck can do, including emptying a recycling bin into the back of the truck (The child does have to pick up and secure the bin to the truck). It can also dump all its contents when your child pulls on a lever. A bigger lever pulls the body of the truck back up so it can continue on to pick up more recycling. The truck moves smoothly when pushed. Kids will have so much fun playing with this lifelike truck that they'll naturally become curious about recycling. About Sprig Eco-conscious toymaker Sprig was born when three toy designers realized what an appalling effect traditional toy manufacturing had on the environment. After observing firsthand how toys got made, they understood that the process employed by the factories had a harmful impact on nearby air, soil, water, and plants. They were also disturbed by the emerging "watch-me" trend in electronic toys that encouraged kids to be more passive in their play. So in 2007, these three designers joined forces to create Sprig, which allowed them to build battery-free, , paint-free, kid-powered toys.
