My [...] both took right to this tattoo "gun"... its easy enough to use. I haven't experienced the "mess" mentioned by other posters. We all got our tattoos right here in the house at the dining room table. All you do is put one of the provided thin tipped markers inside the tattooer, place a stencil on your arm and go.
The tattoo gun moves the marker back and forth just like a real needle, and the motor even sounds a bit realistic.
It would be nice if it came with a few extra markers, but the stencil assortment is very nice, if not overly tribal.

My 5 year old son really likes getting the airbrush tattoos at summer festivals and fairs, but they are so expensive. His aunt gave him this toy for Christmas, and he loves it. He can put the tattoos on himself and the stencils stick pretty good, so the tattoos turn out pretty good. I am worried about how often we will have to buy the refills, but they can't be any more expensive than the airbrush tattoo costs, and this keeps him busy as well. Customer Review: I love it!

The only problem that i have with this toy is that the cord to the base isnt really long enough, and one of the markers should be black, but it's brown. All of this is overlookable though. Why? Because it's fun to play with! the tattoos last a few days, even if you wash your hands a lot. Also if you a grown up child who likes tattoos, it helps you decide what you're getting next and where to put it!Customer Review: Tattoo time!

I bought this toy because it seemed fun since my kids love tattoos. They enjoyed it immensely but after much thought, I have realized that it's just an ordinary pen that was hyped up. It turned out to be a pretty expensive pen with expensive refills. It also takes a bit of practice to do it properly. But in the end I am happy cuz it was appreciated by my kids.Customer Review: Good buy

This "tattoo" pen is pretty unique and quite educational. I think they should include a green pen so that the tattoos will look a little more real. It's fun to play with and doesn't make a mess all over your house (and carpet) like the air brush tattoo play sets do. One other person who wrote a review mentioned the ink from the red pen is hard to get off...that IS TRUE! The ink from the red pen is very difficult to wash off and WILL STAIN your carpet and clothes. This ink also does not wash off skin very well...you have to use alcohol to remove it. Be careful not to get this ink on your carpet or on your wallpaper. My kids like to play with this while sitting on the floor...make sure you put plastic or paper bags down so they don't ruin your carpet. A bit messy, but a lot of fun. I make them play with it outside and I also make them wear an apron so they don't get it all over their clothes. You also need to supervise them to make sure they don't put these pens in their mouths.
