My boys really love to color and paint, but my sixteen month old gets marker everywhere! We got the Aquadoodle mat for Christmas, and my three year old and one year old "paint" and color until the entire mat is wet. It's a great activity while I'm trying to cook dinner or clean the kitchen.
The only negative is the mister, which works but the water is used up rather quickly. My three year old loves squirting the pad, but the water is gone in about 3 seconds. The regular pen and paintbrush (purchased separately) have been better writing implements for the pad.
