My 8 year old daughter really wanted one for her birthday. We bought two (yes, we are overindulgent!). The first one was broken right from the package. It wouldn't stay open. The second lasted about a month. Then it stopped closing all the way and now it won't stay open at all. They are not cuddley at all because of the hard shell. The scent is okay, but certainly doesn't make up for the disappointment in the durability. My daughter is 8 and was not entirely, but fairly careful with the toy. I can't imagine a 3 year old being as gentle, and have the toy last. I would not recommend this toy to anyone.
