Toys and Games Reviews of The Wiggles Sing and Dance GuitarCustomer Review: It's got her singing and me grinning! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my 3 year old daughter after I noticed that everytime we visited my cousin she always ran for the Wiggles Guitar. I also noticed that it was motivating her to sing along. We are a bilingual family and her speaking has been a bit delayed, but listening to the Wiggles and using this guitar have actually helped her become more vocal! I think that is pretty AMAZING for a toy!!The only drawback is that the buttons play such short clips of the songs. Plus, for some reason my daughter likes to keep pressing the buttons over and over before the whole clip has played. If you thought Yummy Yummy Fruit Salad was a bit annoying before - try listening to just the first two notes played over and over and over and over! I have not noticed that this guitar is particularly loud. And if things do get too noisy (i.e. too many repetitions of Wake Up Jeff!) we can always turn it off and my little Elvis-wannabee plays air-guitar to her heart's content. I would definitely buy this toy again for my daughter. My daughter and I like it so much that I am planning on getting the microphone as well.
Customer Review: Fun; best for 3 and under Summary: 4 Stars
My daughter is a big Wiggles fan and is delighted with this guitar. But as she noted in disappointment "these songs are short!" Each plays for maybe 10 seconds (just enough to recognize the song). When you know the songs by heart as most 4 year olds will, this is frustrating. Another negative is that when she holds the guitar like a real musician and dances around singing whatever song is in her head she almost always inadvertently presses one of the buttons which are quite close to the edge of the guitar. So she is interrupted mid song by one of these ten second snippets. That limits its utility as a pretend toy. However, she likes it anyway, and loves the broken string feature (some of the buttons go BOINNGGGG as if the string broke or were grossly out of tune. She responds by "tuning it" i.e. by pretending to turn the knobs.) Most littler kids won't be bothered by these things because they won't be as into pretending for long periods and they may not know the whole song, as four year olds do. So for 2-3 year olds, it's probably perfect. For higher ages, it is fun but it could be improved.
Customer Review: Fun Summary: 5 Stars
First off, my daughter, who is aged 10 months, loves the Wiggles! My wife and I hate ourselves for letting her watch the show at such a young age but she enjoys the singing and bright colors so much that we let her once a day. Recently we found this Guitar at Toy's R Us and I held the toy up to her for a reaction and she seemed interested, so we bought it; what a great decision that was! She loves playing with this thing. She will push the character buttons and start to dance, bouncing up and down. If I have any concern it would be the hard plastic and the size of the toy for a 10 month old. Seeing as she is still adjusting to the "walking thing" she is a bit clumsy, so if she attempts to carry the toy around with her it is a bit of a task. I don't blame the toy for this rather her parents that are willing to let her play with such an item. We feel bad for letting her play with this item, but she loves it and is just so cute when playing with it!
Customer Review: My Son has had this for over 10 months and is still playing with it all the time Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this for my son when he was 11 months old (he's now 21 months) and he still LOVES it. My son didn't know who the wiggles were though I think I may have heard of them but that doesn't matter at all, the songs are so great, ultra catching and send a good message. My son can't get enough music and this is just the perfect toy for him. He loves pressing all the different buttons and hearing the different sounds and he even dances as he's "strumming". We've had no problems with it whatsoever and he's thrown it and slammed it on concrete and it hasn't missed a beat!
***UPDATE*** Its now been 3 years since buying this for my son, he's now 4 and STILL loves it. Although he can now play the drums and has an electric guitar he refuses to give this one away and STILL plays with it. And, here's the kicker we STILL have not had to change the batteries since purchasing this toy - incredible! Why can't they all be made with this kind of battery life?
Customer Review: LOVE THIS TOY! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this toy for my son(2) for Christmas this past year. He has not put it down since then! It is by far one of his favorite toys. Even though he plays with this toy everyday, we are still on the original set of batteries! That makes it an A+ in my book! My 8 month old daughter loves this toy too. This toy really takes a beating in our house and still looks brand new. The sound quality is also much better than some of his other toys. I do wish that all of the buttons played something different. Sometimes I get sick of the BOING! buttons but those seems to be my son's favorite to press. I am buying another guitar for my nephew because he also loves to play with this toy when he comes over. I would definitely recommend this toy to any Wiggles fan!!!
