Toys and Games Reviews of Spinmaster Moon Sand Castle Play SetCustomer Review: If you like clean up, you'll love moon sand Summary: 1 Stars
I got this for my 6 year old. While it is fun to mold and play with, it is HORRIBLE to clean up. We put down a mat to keep it off the table and a tray to try and keep it in one place. Not 3 minutes into play it was all over and stuck in every nook and cranny (including on the dog). It sticks to clothes and ends up ground into the couch, carpet, you name it- it's stuck there. It also scratched up the wooden table as it found its way under the mat. It has been banned to outdoor play. Where it gets all over still, but at least my son can run his trucks through it and not have to worry about ruining things.
Customer Review: Great gift idea Summary: 5 Stars
We love the moon sand castle kit...definitely one of our favorite birthday toys this year! I have a 6 and 3 year old and they both love it.
It really isn't that messy and my kids keep most of it inside the blow up base. It's not grainy like real sand and makes clean up easy. The blow up base is wonderful, when the kids are finished playing, we just fold it up(sand inside) and put it away until next time.
It doesn't come with enough sand, but you can buy more. The sand does tend to get stuck in the molds, but so far that is my only complaint.
I would definitely recommend.
Customer Review: Justin's Birthday Gift Moon Sand Summary: 5 Stars
My son ask for Moon Sand for his Birthday. He has really enjoyed playing with the moon sand. Some of the reviews say that the sand will not come out of the molds well. Justin and I have figured this one out. If you do not fill the molds all the way up to the edge, then the sand will come out very easily. This gift has given Justin many hours of fun and it does not stick to anything and it is very easy to clean up. I feel that this is a wonderful alternative to play dough. If you are thinking about buying this item for your child, then I assure you that you will have a very happy child.
Customer Review: We like it! Summary: 5 Stars
It's great. It's sand that holds. It is messy, but it's lots of fun. My daughter wants to play with it all the time, and you can get a kit of 7.5lbs and that'll be plenty. It's not supposed to be PlayDoh. In fact, that's the reason we bought it since our daughter has a gluten allergy. It's also alot of fun for adults too. Although I don't think there will ever be enough sand. I especially like the castle one. The molds are a good way to teach my 2 year the shapes and the coordination to make something. If it can make my two year old patient, it has to be a winner in my house.
Customer Review: messy ! Summary: 2 Stars
This 'sand' is fun for a few minutes until it gets everywhere! It's not very easy to clean up once your kids accidentally sit on some of it or it gets stepped on. We had to move it outside, where it also got stepped on and is now pressed into the concrete on the back porch. It won't broom up either.
The set is too small for 2 kids to play with it very well. Also, I think 5 years old and up might work out better than the suggested 3 yrs. My kids are 3 1/2 and 20 months. We have a 'real sand' table that has been great, and is so much easier to clean up.
