Toys and Games Reviews of Spinmaster Hover Copter Wireless Flying Saucer (49 MHz)

Customer Review: Worthless Toy
Summary: 1 Stars

The hover-copter is worthless junk. My husband purchased one for my son for Christmas and it flew for about five minutes before it broke...the propellor woudn't stop spinning even after the remote was turned off. I called the 800 number and after an incredibly long wait was told to return it to the toys r us or they would gladly ship me a new one for $8.95 (shipping and handling). I exchanged it at toys r us for a new one, charged the copter, put in a new battery and the new one doesn't work...this time the copter doesn't respond to the remote. I called the company off and on for four hours and when I finally got through the guy didn't have any suggestions other than to return it...which I will gladly do. Save yourself the hassle by not buying this toy. It is unfortunate that I am unable to give this product zero stars because that is truly what it deserves!

Customer Review: Fun toy, not good for teeny kids
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this toy for my nephew, who is 2. My brother and I ended up playing with it instead and we are 36 and 31! It's a really cool toy, but watch out for the propeller on the bottom, as my brother almost took off a thumb when he caught the ufo in midair. It goes REALLY high!!! We took it outside and with a slight breeze you may loose this thing in the trees, but it goes way beyond the top of the pine trees around here... which is over 3 stories. I almost got it caught on the roof. At night it is REALLY cool.. the lights flash and it looks like a real ufo. My nephew was over here and we took it outside and he kept saying, "COOL COOL!!" It doesn't last very long on one charge, I'd say about 5 mins... but it was neat nonetheless.. I only paid (...) for it at a local crafts store. It was worth the money to see my nephew enjoy it.

Customer Review: Piece of crap
Summary: 1 Stars

We saw this toy in a store in NYC, and we thought it was awesome. We got home and ordered it, and it's a piece of crap. The thing only holds a charge for a few minutes! It barely flies at all, and can only fly up and down, not to the side. My 7 and 8 yr old played with it for two minutes, and then got bored. It crash lands so hard, it's almost impossible not to damage it. The only part my kids liked were the flashing lights. Not only do you have to charge it up with a power cord, but the remote takes batteries and so does the copter itself, so powering it can cost a small fortune! I read the reviews, and went ahead and bought it anyway, and I'm sorry I did. It's totally not worth the money. Don't make the same mistake I did in getting your kids' hopes up. Pass this one by. Paper airplanes are more fun.

Customer Review: You _Can_ Master The Drawbacks
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading other comments on this toy I decided to buy 2 of them (as a gift for friends)--fully expecting a short life span.

When the first one died everything seemed to work fine but it would no longer take-off.

We compared the fully-charged, used (but undamaged) Hover Copter to a brand new, first time charged Hover Copter. The used Copter propellor spun slightly slower than the brand new Copter (we held them up and compared the amount of air current).

I would advise doing everything possible to avoid battery memory build-up. Fully discharge after each session (leave it on after use)! Charge it no longer than recommended right before use. Never charge any longer than recommended.

Customer Review: Not for Kids
Summary: 3 Stars

My wife got me this toy after seeing one of her grand kids get one for his birthday. The kid's lasted less than a day. These are far too fragile to be subjected to kids or anyone without much patience. It flies well over 30 feet, be careful so that it doesn't end up in a tree or on the roof. After a hard landing, the propellor may not rotate, flipping the on/off switch a couple of times corrects this. The slightest breeze will send it out of control. Just before landing, cut the power, so the propellor doesn't hit the grass or a rock. One of my dogs runs from it and the other tries to attack it. This is a GREAT toy!
