Customer Review: DO NOT PURCHASE THIS TOY!!!!!

This was such a great concept - I just wish it worked. As mentioned in previous reviews, the contraption is a bit cumbersome to use, but we could get past that aspect. It simply does NOT work. We have tried everything to make these things stick together and they just won't!!! My 8 yr old daughter begged and begged for this and she received it as a Christmas gift. It was the highlight of her Christmas AND the biggest let down! After figuring out that it was easier to just place the beads by hand, she carefully crafted a cat. We sprayed it and put it under the dryer - NOTHING...sprayed again...NOTHING...sprayed a 3rd time and still NOTHING. We are waiting for the 4th attempt at spraying and drying, but I have a feeling it isn't going to work this time either.
I don't usually write negative reviews about products, but after the tears my daughter shed over this product, I wanted to warn others about it purchasing it as well.

Got one at Target ($[...]); 0 for 2 on our first "easy design" tries.
1st problem is that on the square grid, at least, the dots don't always touch like they should, and this means the gaps in between mean... no bonding.
2nd problem is that the bond is pretty flimsy. When taking the designs out of the tray, simply put, they break - probably because the small point where two spheres meet is insufficient for a strong bond.
3rd, which doesn't reflect the quality of the bonding mentioned above, is that for this price the kit comes with a TINY amount of beads; there should be enough for each color to be filled on the "carousel" on top, but there are a stingy amount provided with the set.
Both our kids (6 and 8 years old) were very disappointed that their efforts in careful bead placement were rewarded with the realization that it's "another one of those toys that doesn't work."
Customer Review: Great product if you a have just a little bit of patience

I got this for my cousin for her birthday last week. She's 6 and had asked for it. In the beginning, it was a bit hard for her to do but after trying it a few times it became second nature. It does take a few times to figure out how much water you need to spray and to adjust drying time accordingly.
I got her a refill pack too so she could create her own and she liked just coming up with her own pictures. I went on the website and found free designs you can download to continue playing. You could even create your own although she's a bit young for it. I had some fun creating stuff though as it's really easy.
The machine isn't bad. My beads did get stuck in the tube but a bit of shaking took care of that. Fan worked fine and did make drying much faster.
Overall, if your kids have a bit of patience, the more you play with it, the easier and more fun it will be.

I have to say I really did not want to buy this toy after reading the reviews, but my daughter has wanted this toy for a long time- she wanted Aquadots, but we were unable to buy it due to the recall. She has asked for this toy more than any other toy, so I finally broke down and bought it with very low expectations.
First of all, other people were right in advising you buy it at Target for the lower price. Also, I agree that they don't give you a lot of dots.
We have not had any issues with the dots not sticking together. It has worked great for us. I don't have any special tricks, we just followed the instructions, which are pretty much to just spray water on the design and stick it under the fan in the machine for 5-10 minutes. My daughter has played with this for hours and she really loves this toy. So, based on my experience, I would have to say that I do recommend this toy.
Customer Review: A great toy for a 7-year old girl

I saw all the negative reviews so i was skeptical about purchasing this product. However, my daughter REALLY wanted it so I got it for her. She has been using it all day. It took a couple of tries to figure out how much water to spray -- initially it would dry but the balls would not be stuck together. So, we sprayed again, dried again, sprayed and dried until we figured out how much to spray. Now, it's easy and she knows what to do, so it works great. YOu really need to get the surface good and wet for it to stick. The only negative is that this does not come with very many pixos (little balls). If you are ordering this I highly recommend spending the extra [...] to get the refill kit. My daughter is already out of 3 of the colors after only half a dozen projects. One more thing, we have had NO ISSUES with balls jamming in the tube or any other issues that I've read about. This is a great toy.
