Customer Review: Does not work - wasted money

I really didn't plan to purchase this for our boys, however, they managed to talk grandma into it... knowing this, I went ahead and bought a couple extra add-on packs (each contained an extra 750). I figured the kids would go through the little amount of pixos included with the original package (something around 550).
I wish I'd waited, as we haven't even opened the extra packs (need to dig through purse for receipt)... the original pixos toy ended up being no fun at all.
It comes with two dotted trays, one with inline holes and the other with diagonal holes, used to place your pixos or dots to create your design.
Unfortunately, most of the pixos don't touch, so regardless of how much water you spray (which, btw, you are warned not to spray TOO much) the pixos just won't touch, thus not sticking. The few that do actually stick to each other come apart so easily getting it out of the tray is impossible.
Too much water and the little fan in back won't dry the pixos.
What a waste of money. The kids were disappointed (not to mention frustrated), but I used this as another means to explain how things don't always look as fun as they seem to make them on TV.
(Now, if I could just talk my littest boy(4) into trusting me that he does not need the eyelash twirler he sees on tv, things would be better, ha!)

My daughter got this for her sixth birthday and was thrilled to finally get some PixOs. It was easy to snap together and took 2 AA batteries (not included). I was surprised at the very small number of PixOs included with this set and would recommend buying a refill set at the same time you are buying this studio. The overhead portion where the fan is seems to almost be in the way when she is trying to create a design and would be easier just to take the tray off and do it on a table without worrying about bumping your head and then shaking the whole machine and knocking your already-placed PixOs off. The directions just say to spray the beads evenly, but they don't give any indication of how much you are supposed to spray them. SPRAY THEM A LOT! We learned the hard way after a number of tries to get the design off the tray. Also, the directions say to let it dry 5-10 minutes under the fan. After waiting 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 1 hour, etc., we finally let her first design dry overnight and it was still a little sticky on the bottom, but we were able to get it off the tray in one piece to let it finish drying.
All in all, my daughter was happy with it and that's what counts the most. She jumped right out of bed this morning to go make another design. We'll be running out this weekend to buy a refill because there were so few beads included to begin with.

I bought this for my 5 yr old daughter for Xmas. She's been playing with it every day since. Personally, I don't think it's worth the money, but since she loves it and is getting alot of use out of it, that's all I can ask for. There are MANY cons: You get VERY few pixos balls in the super studio. It's a good thing I bought a refill pack or she would have been very disappointed when they were all used up. You also don't get many templates, so she got bored doing the same ones again & again. But we went online to [...] and created our own designs which was a great activity in itself. Another con is that after you spray your design, it takes a long time to dry and she broke many of her designs trying to get them out of the tray. All in all, she does love playing Pixos, but quite honestly, for the amount you pay for "super studio" there is nothing super about it. If you buy it, make sure you get refills at the same time! One more thing, if you have small children in your home, I would NOT suggest this toy. The tiny balls spill everywhere and the finished designs break apart easily, so a small child could find & ingest. They get sticky when wet and therefore could be dangerous.Customer Review: tiny little beads everywhere because they don't stick!

Ok I purchased this toy at the BIG W SUPER CHAIN because my 6 yr old after being bombarded on Toon Disney by advertisements for it informed me... "I just have to have it MOM!"
If the $30 price tag wasnt bad enough getting this thing home became a whole new adventure in frustration. The "instructions" that come with this thing give very minimal information. Having never seen anything like this toy before I was soon confused and frustrated.
Alas I got it together and my son liked placing the little balls on the trays just fine until He figured out he could press the little blue button and shoot them everywhere! You guessed it ... tiny little beads about the size of the top of a hat pin are pretty much everywhere. The few "designs" he freelanced and I sprayed for him didnt stick no matter HOW much water I used or didnt use and they too ended up mostly in my carpet.
One word of advice. If you do buy this toy make sure it is for a crafty older child who understands that its not a tiny pixos launcher! I wont be buying refills and hope this toy loses its charm quick once all the little buggers have been distributed throughout my carpet.

According to my eight and six year old daughters, the PixOs Super Studio is fun, but there are some problems that they had with it. First of all, they had trouble getting the beads to stick together. Spray too little and the creations fall apart. Spray too much and it takes forever to dry. Also note that if you spray too much water, the PixOs will bloat slightly, which makes it difficult to align back in the tray if you want to make modifications to it. One big complaint they had was that the set came with way too few beads, so expect to buy refills. Personally, I was a little disappointed with this set, so I also bought a Manley Art-Tastic Magic Bead Set Manley Art-tastic Magic Beads Deluxe Playset - 1200 Beads, which, according to them, was a much better set because the beads stuck together better, and were the exact same size as the PixOs. Also, the Art-tastic Magic Beads have a few more patterns and come with more beads. But best of all, the Art-tastic refills are cheaper than PixOs. You can consider buying either one while using the Art-tastic Magic Bead refills.
