My daughter got this set for her 5th birthday last year from a school friend. We had never done them before and I was surprised how easy it was and yes, after spraying (excessively) with water and leaving them alone overnight, they really do stick. And I love the fact you can actually hang them up in the windows. Now nearly a year later, they are all still intact and still hanging up in the windows, we have moved and they lasted thru the move across the country. Now whenever she is invited to a birthday party for a friend from school we always pick up this set and the kids seem to all really enjoy it. We do have a set with the pen, and the pen is pointless. The balls get stuck in the constantly and actually seemed to cause more hassle then help, so I'd skip out on the pen. We have a 3D set which is pretty cool, but not very durable, she is 6 and wants to "play" with them, they are just for looks. I highly recommend the suncatcher set, its great b/c you get to see your creation hanging in the windows every day :)
