Toys and Games Reviews of Air Hogs Havoc Heli - Colors May VaryCustomer Review: Sooo much fun Summary: 5 Stars
I'm in my 20's and I still mess with this helicopter just because it's a lot of fun. Got it mostly to fly when I'm absolutely bored, or fly around the cat.
It's mostly good for indoors unless it's really calm outside, because even a really light breeze effects flight greatly. Also might be a good idea to turn off the ceiling fan, but not completely necessary. Mine hit the fan several times and still flies ok.
It's also been caught by the cat. I've been pleasantly surprised at the durability of such a low priced RC copter.
I'd rate educational value a 5 if it included information on how flight works, but I still feel it's very educational. Youngsters flying these prob get some spacial intelligence learning basic flight controls.
Overall this is a great toy. Though I boast the durability of this helicopter, I'd beware of leaving it in the care of small children. Not out of safety concern, the propeller has very gentle contact should it crash into someone. But since they may get rough with it, it might last longer in the care of parents.
Customer Review: IT DOESNT WORK Summary: 1 Stars
I followed all the instructions exactly, fully charged it, tried it in different rooms, etc. but this thing simply doesn't work. There is a delay between when you move the throttle on the controller and when the heli responds. You can move the throttle slowly up but the heli will not respond at first. Then all of a sudden it will respond with it's blades spinning at full speed. Then if you turn down the throttle all the way the heli doesn't respond to that either. It will fly up full speed and hit the ceiling. Then crash down to the floor, it's blades still spinning at full speed. Then after thrashing around on the floor for a while it will finally respond and the blades will stop spinning. Another problem I encountered is that the heli itself (not the blades) will spin around uncontrollably. The instructions tell you to correct this using the right and left buttons on the control unit, but again the heli doesn't respond to these buttons - not even a delayed response. No matter what you do the heli spins around. It won't stay steady. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this thing.
Customer Review: This helicopter is nothing but havoc Summary: 1 Stars
The product looks really cool, and they're not cheap. The controls definitely take practice to become adequate. But that seemed a small challenge for my eight year old. None of the adjustments worked as easily as described, and he needed adult help to make the adjustments. The Havoc Heli crashed numerous times into the ceiling, floor or table as my eight year old tried to get the hang of flying it. Within an hour, the stabilizer bar had cracked, and the counterweight fell off. The Heli wouldn't fly anymore.
Plus, I had researched this category of toy, try to find one that was recommended as durable. And this was the second helicopter we had reluctantly purchased. The first had the exact same problems. The company stated that normally cracks in the rotor blade or stabilizer blade were not covered under the limited 90 day warranty. After arguing with them over the second helicopter to have cracked blades, they reluctantly replaced the product if I agree to pay the shipping. What else could I do. But I won't be putting more money into purchasing these products.
Customer Review: This helicopter is a blast! Summary: 5 Stars
I can't remember how I found out about it in the first place, but I ordered one online for my son last Christmas when it was still marketed as the Picoo Z. He is 7, and after very little time was flying it like a champ all over the house. Under the guise of "helping" him, I kept trying to steal it away to "test it out", and this is when I realized that it is as much fun for adults as it is for kids.
I bought one in May for my 47-year-old brother's birthday (he's a licensed pilot), and he loves it. I just got a third for my 6-year-old son who was feeling left out and now has his own Havoc Heli to zip around the house. We can't wait to get all three of them (each has its own channel) together for a fly-in.
It is not the most maneuverable thing in the world, but with a little tweaking of the tail and weighting of the nose, you can make it pretty much go where you want. Even if it doesn't, it's still loads of fun, and it is amazingly durable for its size and construction. Look - if two little boys can't destroy it, it gets a gold star in my book!
Customer Review: Cool little heli Summary: 4 Stars
I bought it for my 6 yr old and he loves it though it did take him a while to master it. Heck, it took me a while to master it. It is hard to control but I think it fun enough just trying to keep it hovering without running into walls. We broke one of the foam wings the first day but elmers glue has been holding it ever since. After the 2nd week the tail boom broke which is a very small plastic rod. It will only spin out of control without it sturdily in place. I tried to crazy glue it but its just too darn small to glue. I called spinmastrer and they're sending me a new one. Just had to send thme pictures of the broken copter and receipt. The flying time is 5-6 minutes which doesn't seem long but you rarely have it in the air for that long so I have found you get a 15-20 mins out of a charge. Then you have to let it cool down for 10-15 mins, then charge which takes 15-20 mins. seems like 35 mins maint to 5 mins play time but thats really not the case. Bottom line is, for the price (got mine for $20) its a pretty cool toy. But don't expect it to last a 100 flights.
