I was skeptical about this set - how well can you cut and re-cut a velcro based plastic toy? Well, I was wrong. They are excellent. My 20 month old got these for Christmas and plays with them literally every day. The first few days we had them I would spend a great deal of time showing her how to put them together and hold her hands in place while she tried to cut. Once her basic muscles were trained, she became totally independent. Obviously she prefers that I play with her but at nap time, they are the perfect transition from the world of play to the world of quiet rest. I intended to buy a wood set like Melissa and Doug but was never impressed by how unrealistic the wooden toys look. These look relatively real, cut well and go back together almost effortlessly. What a great value!
