Customer Review: You get what you pay for.
Summary: 3 Stars
After much waiting, Sackboy finally showed up, and of course my daughter was excited to have her own Sackboy finally. That's all that matters really, but hey, I gotta do a bit more for an actual review of it. I'm only reviewing Sackboy himself, as that's what I ordered directly from the company that makes these. This 2 pack of Sackboy and Sackgirl has been out of stock for so long that I just went and got him on his own instead.
First up, Sackboy looks exactly as he does in the picture, though he's a little bit darker as far as the brown goes. The zipper is plastic, and isn't functional. You can bend his arms and legs a little bit, but there's not much you can do if you like to take pictures of toys doing zany things. He's stuffed fairly well, but can't stand up on his own. So if you display your toys, he'll need to be propped against something, or just sitting down. Sackboy stands at about 7 inches tall.
Unfortunately, quality control on these guys wasn't too hot. I've read a lot of stories from other buyers who got Sackboys with lop-sided heads, zippers falling off, and even missing tongues. Mine had none of these problems luckily, but one of the arms is longer than the other. Not to the point where he looks like a freak of nature, but enough to be an eye sore. I also don't think the material used to make him is that great, and fuzz balls littered his head and legs when I opened the box. The plastic zipper might bother some people, since it really wouldn't have cost any more to use a metal one (like most fans who make their own Sackboy dolls use), but I don't see it as a big deal since it still looks good as it is.
For die-hard LittleBigPlanet fans who want the ultimate Sackboy plush, this isn't it. You're really better off having someone who has experience with knitting or crocheting make one based on the pattern that's available. But for more casual fans or children who just want a Sackboy, then I recommend this version. It's just too bad they didn't go and make costume packs to dress him up with, or throw in some cool stickers. But for this price for two dolls, you can't really complain about a lack of accessories.
