Toys and Games Reviews of Disney DVD BingoCustomer Review: Great Family Time Summary: 5 Stars
I chose this as a Christmas gift for my kids (ages 2 and 4) based on the other reviews here. It really is great! Each space on the bingo board corresponds to a specific Disney Character (okay, so it is shameless marketing...). N24 is always Dumbo, O52 is always the Cheshire Cat, B4 is Belle, etc. The letters also correspond to colors, the B color is red, I is Yellow, etc. Here's what makes this work: even my two year old can play along with minimal help. She can recognize the characters on her card. She knows which column to look in because the screen is yellow if she should look in that column. Older children can also use the color coordination and later the letter coordination. Then, the game has the whole card and pattern options as the kids get older for a challenge. My kids (and I...at their age they need some help especially with the start up as it requires the use of the DVD remote to get going) really enjoy this game and request it often. Plain old bingo is certainly lackluster!
My suggestions for improvement (just in case someone from Disney reads this): MAGNETS. I would make the chips stick to the cards somehow. It's really disheartening for a little one when a card gets bumped and the chips go flying. I guess that would make it more expensive to make, but it would also make it a viable car game for DVD-equipped vehicles. Also, more clips! The wild clips are cute, but seem to repetitive.
Customer Review: Favorite Christmas present of a 4 and 5 year old . . . Summary: 5 Stars
This was by far my 5 year-old daughter and 4 year-old nephew's favorite Christmas present this year. Bought it after reading the preceding reviews and totally agree with the positive ones. I guess the woman who complained the numbers get called too slow didn't realize you can change the settings (just click on "controls" when the menu screen first comes up) to manually control the numbers being called, and you can make them come up as fast or as slow as you want.
We love the little celebration graphics that play for you when you click on "bingo" when someone wins. We let the child that didn't win keep all their chips on the card and the winner clear them off, that way they pretty much took turns with who won. It was great practice with winning and LOSING (especially), which never really goes over with the preschool set, ha ha.
Anyway, seriously good practice in learning double-digit numbers without having to know them in the beginning to actually play.
Customer Review: Good Family Fun Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this game for my son's fourth birthday. He's really getting into board games and is also a big Disney buff, so I thought he would like it.
Turns out, he loves it. We play almost every day. The game offers many different methods of matching: by picture, color, letter, and number, so children of any and all ages can play together and not have to worry about being at different comprehension levels. At four, my son matches the color and picture, but it's also a great tool to review numbers and (limited, true) letters.
I suppose the only con would be that there might not be enough chips included. It's fine when it's just my son and I, but if we were playing the blackout version (fill up the entire card) with more people, we would probably run out of chips. But that's no big deal; you can use pretty much anything as extra chips.
Any game that we can play as a family and has even a little educational value is tops in my book.
Customer Review: My daughter's favorite game! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter is now 4 1/2 and we've tried many games, the Disney Bingo with DVD, however, is by far the BEST for us. The game is fun, the music and visuals on the DVD are bright and, well, DISNEY, and it's finally a game where she can really follow it, thanks for the colors and characters. She doesn't yet know double digit numbers, but the characters and colors bridge this gap until she learns them. Even if she didn't know her letters she would be able to play, due to the system they've created here. We played it last night before bed, and the first thing she said when she woke up this morning was, "Let's play BINGO!" Because of the DVD, she can play it without me, too, which is another plus. The pacing of the DVD is perfect for her. I couldn't recommend this game more and know she will play it for years. I am curious now about other DVD games.
Customer Review: Disney DVD Bingo Summary: 4 Stars
We got it 6 months ago. At first the whole family played the game a lot. Every day, 3 times in a row. Now not so much. I guess maybe 2-3 time a month.
It's educational. It teaches the kids to listen to the numbers, to see them and to find the numbers. It teaches the colors and the children have the opportunity to learn the names of the Disney characters.
The only down side is that the chips are very small and it is easy to loose them. But... We like it!
It's been over a year since my last review of this product. We don't play it as often but my boy who is 5 years old still wants to play it especially when he has his friends over. The only problem is the chips. My second child (almost 2 years old) loves them to put in her mouth or to scatter them around.
