It's a nice set. The wood was scraped on the edges and the red material on the board was peeling when I received it.
I wasn't very impressed by the quality of the wood. I envisioned something of similar quality to my grandmother's scrabble board of the early 1980's but I guess things aren't made that well anymore.
I sent it back (Amazon was great as usual and I got my refund within 5 days of dropping it back at UPS).
I'll wait until the deluxe set goes on sale and see if I prefer the plastic over this lower quality wood.
Again, this is a decent set, but for the cost I thought that this would be a higher quality product. If you can get it on a good Amazon sale, it will be a good purchase.

This is a great scrabble board for the serious player - but I don't think it would be useful for someone who player scrabble occasionally. This is a "big board" and I don't think it would work well for putting away / taking out. We leave our scrabble board out all the time.
I was a bit hesitant to purchase this board because the letter tiles are not wood - they're a slightly textured faux ivory (plastic). After playing maybe 10 games since Christmas, I can say that the letters "pass the test" and work well. Because they are an ivory color, they are higher contract and it seems a bit easier to see view.

I wanted a nice gift for wife for Christmas and she loves Scrabble. In theory, this is a nice set. I like the rotating board and storage option, but I feel that the quality is not what I would expect for $100. The "sticker" overlay for the board has a wrinkle in it and scratches easily. The wood has a ding in it. I had hoped that this would be something that would last for years to come, but I am not sure why the manufacturing is not up to par. It, like most toys and items these days, is made in China. The game itself is fun and I like the nice touches, but I think Hasbro's quality control may be slipping.Customer Review: Great classic!

This is a classically beautiful version of a classic board game. We love the raised grid that won't let the tiles slide around, and the lazy susan feature so that each player always has the board square in front of him/her. This was a 25th wedding anniversary present to ourselves & the wood case, with storage drawer & pouch for the tiles, scorebook, timer, and wooden tile racks in the elegant storage tray adds a touch of luxury to this classic game. We will proudly hand this stylish game down to future generations as a reminder of a simpler time & fond memories spent with family.Customer Review: Very Poor Quality

For the money spent on this game, I was extremely disappointed. It states it is the Premier product, however, it is anything but. The underlayment was extremely uneven to start with so there was gap on either side of the board. There were 2 areas that didn't match up with the grid. The drawer pull was crooked. Overall, just really disappointed. The kids really didn't want to have to wait while I sent it back and wait for another. They really were excited to have the game. That is the ONLY reason I kept it, not to mention having to pay to ship it back.
