I don't understand all the negative reviews. My daughter LOVES science. She's 6, but we started doing boxed science kits when she was 4. We have done many including the Smithsonian Volcano kit, the SE Disgusting Science, SE Magic Science, SE Mind Blowing Science, SE Tasty Science. Some of the other kits were a bit hard for her, they are meant for 8 and up, but she LOVED them all. She enjoyed this one because she was able to do all the activities with very little help.
Yes the stuff is cheap and you can buy all the stuff at the store but it is much easier and interesting in the box. Everything is there with instructions. We were able to just open the box and go. We have done experiments from books but my daughter always favors the boxed kits.
The fizzy tablets are much more fun than food coloring but we did redo some of the activities with food coloring because she enjoyed doing them over and over again, especially the plate color mixing and the soap activity. Making a rainbow over and over again in milk then dispersing it with soap was so entertaining to her!
I think this is a good beginner kit for preschool and elementary children. A great start for science kits, it builds their knowledge of working with these tools for future science experiments.
We can't wait to do more science kits :)
