Toys and Games Reviews of Scientific Explorer's Mind Blowing Science Kit for Young ScientistsCustomer Review: Best Gift Ever Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this product for my 6 year old nephew as an early Christmas present. While spending the weekend with him, he only wanted to do his science experiments, and even opted out of dessert so he'd have more time to be a scientist. He told me that this is "the best gift ever," and that's coming from a child who will tell you if he doesn't like what you got him. My only complaint would be that there's only enough supplies to do each experiment once, but fortunately, a lot of the materials are household items. I would definitely suggest this item for hours of entertainment! Just make sure there's an adult thats willing to assist.
Customer Review: Satisfactory Science Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this kit for my 4 year old daughter. She currently wants to be a "Scientist" when she grows up, so she demanded a "real" science kit. When we opened it and saw it had 3 test tubes she nearly exploded with excitement. "IT IS REAL SCIENCE!" The experiements are very simple, but fun and satisfying. It is a great way to introduce science concepts to young minds. It isn't inquiry-based science because the experiments are structured step by step, but it has sparked enough curiousity that she is starting to ask questions and seek answers without the guidance of a kit, and that is the ultimate success. Excellent purchase.
Customer Review: Starting scientific conversations Summary: 4 Stars
While I am not a chemist nor a volcano expert, I am a certified teacher. This kit provided hours and hours of quality time for my 4 year old, my six year old and myself. We measured ingredients, mixed solutions, made predictions, learned vocabulary, and discussed results. Can you think of many toys that can offer all of that? I thought the booklet that contained instructions was well-sequenced, with simple experiments followed by complex ones and with a helpful parent script. There were two drawbacks: the activities required direct parent involvement and sometimes a 2 hour wait time was required for "reactions" to happen
Customer Review: gift for my son Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this as a Christmas gift for our five year old son to start introducing him to science. There are about 9 or 10 experiments that we split into two different sessions; we all had a blast each time. Really, it's pretty basic stuff, and you wouldn't have a hard time getting around most the necessary components on your own (with the exception of the red cabbage powder and citric acid), but the kit is very convenient. All-in-all, we thought this was fun and will probably do a few of the experiments a couple more times (the underwater volcano is pretty wicked). I plan to check out other products this company offers.
Customer Review: Lots of fun Summary: 5 Stars
My son received this for Xmas soon after turning 4yo. He LOVES it! There are two volcano simulations that he LOVES. He'll do them over and over. He does need help with it, so it's not something I can leave him to do on his own, but it sparks great conversations and questions. All the materials (or at least most, I can't remember them all right now) included are food stuffs--citric acid, red cabbage powder, baking soda, etc--so I feel like it's safe to use with little ones and in the kitchen while I'm cooking. I highly recommend this one. We have another one that he likes, but this one is his favorite.
