I love this science kit. I can't believe anyone would rate it poorly since it is exactly as described... it is a simple, fun and has provided hours worth of entertainment and education to my five year old little girl. Yes, the materials are plastic and many of the chemicals are things commonly found in your home. But the point of the "kit" is that they all come in one package and it is put together in such a way that will make your child so excited to do the "experiments" and isn't that what it is all about? The instructional booklet gives some basic science and it is all easy to use and clean up. Some may complain that this is overpriced for what comes in the box, but considering that our daugther has spent well over two hours working with the kit (and we're are only 1/2 way through) it is money very well spent!Customer Review: The Science of Ripping Off Parents

Here's a quick primer for parents looking to buy science kits for the early grade school set (i.e., K - 3rd). Every science kit, including this one, basically tells you to mix vinegar with baking soda and "Voila!" you made a volcano. Nevermind that in later years some kid will go hiking in the crater of Mt. St. Helen's during an eruption thinking it is just harmless cooking products. Use safe chemicals to make scientific changing colors? You guessed it -- food dye. All these kits basically include a set of plastic test tubes and instructions telling you to open your kitchen cupboards. Back in the Middle Ages people who sold this kind of hokum for the price it now commands were called alchemists. They eventually went out of business. Buy the kid a Suzukie violin or a football helmet instead.Customer Review: Lots of fun

I purchased this kit as a chirstmas gift for my 4yr old Nephew. He LOVED it! The experiments are fun, easy and simple to preform (with the help of an adult of course). The majority of the experiments deal with creating "jelly" crystals but that was fine because he had a blast watching them take form and change colors etc. The kit comes with plastic/durable test tubes and cups for mixing and pre-package mixers for each experiment. The directions are easy to follow and all of the ingredients are non-toxic. Some of the tasks may have been a bit over his head, and more suited for an older child (for example one experiment involved capturing the colors of a sunset in the test tube-4yr olds have no idea what a sunset is) but overall still very fun for him and very educational.Customer Review: Fun, but messy

I have had a wonderful time doing the activities with my 6-year old. She loves it. What I do not love is that for [...], they couldn't send test tubes that didn't leak. No matter how carefully and tightly you put on the screw caps, fluid will dribble right out. So when the activity calls for shaking to mix the food-coloring tablets or the red cabbage juice powder, you had better make sure you a) are wearing old clothes and b) standing over the sink. Again, I really like this product and would buy it again, but it is extremely frustrating that for this much money the apparatus it comes with should be so problematic, since you cannot even lay the capped tubes on their sides with any type of liquid inside them.Customer Review: Perfect for your budding scientist!!!!

My daughter is 7 and really loves science. I read the reviews before buying this kit and its exactly as reviewed! The experiments are easy and fun! She literally does them by herself. We helped her with the first couple experiments just so she would understand that you have to read the instructions exactly. She has had so much fun that she now does an experiment and then adds her own little things to see what happens. The experiments only take a small amount of the products provided. This is definitely not a do all the experiments once and then you are done because you have used up all the ingredients. It is goint to provide fun for quite a while! I will definitely buy kits like this from the maker!
