I purchased 2 of these kits for my grandsons for Christmas. When one of them opened his, the plastic packet inside had exploded and ruined some of the contents. I wrote to the toy maker and explained my problem and that I had purchased the gift earlier on Amazon and it exceeded the 30 day return policy. The box was sealed, the silver packet inside was sealed and the small plastic packet inside that was still sealed. I quickly received a response that the toy company would immediately replace the packet that was ruined. Would never hesitate to purchase anything from them, since they stand behind their products so well.Customer Review: Dollar's worth of stuff IN the box...save your money

The box is eye catching for kids, but what you actually get in the box is a joke. Included is small envelopes of sugar, yeast, red an green food coloring, and gelatin (all available at your local grocer if not already in your kitchen), a balloon, a few q-tips, and 4 plastic petri dishes. That's it. You'd be much better off saving your money and downloading experiments off the internet or reading ideas in a book. Waaaaaayyyy overpriced and not very much fun. We've had much more fun finding slime recipes and science experiments online. What a waste of $20.00.Customer Review: disgusting!!

We swiped some toes (after running around sockless in rubber boots), toilet water, teeth, the kitchen sink, and left one open to the air for 1/2 an hour. The winner was the toes! Truly gross. It takes about 10 days to get some good cultures going, but we kept a chart and it was VERY educational. The other 'experiments' were just play, but the swabs and cultures in the petri dishes were really worth the money. And there was anough gelatin left to do more experments so we passed the kit on to friends. :)Customer Review: Disgusting Science is disgusting before you open it!

I bought this for my nephews 7th birthday (which is in December), I haven't opened it yet because the box it came in is old and broken. I didn't dare open the sealed package inside for fear it would look like I bought it at a garage sale. I only kept it because I think I can fix it up, and I can't handle the grief of sending it back and waiting for a new one. Here I thought I was getting a jump on the holidays and already a problem.

Customer Review: Great fun, great teaching opportunities, but little in box

This is a fun and convenient kit containing some gelatin, sugar, yeast, a balloon, four petri dishes, a magnifying glass, and some red and green food coloring. Also a few pages, perhaps 6, of projects/instructions.
The kids and I are having fun with this, but then I am in education and was a bio major. So that helps.
For this to be really worth it, it would be nice if it came with a few more projects, or perhaps an actual book for the kids to read.
