This was bought in June to be given to our horse-loving daughter (5 yrs) as a thank-you for being the flowergirl in our wedding. We also included a sterling-silver horse pendant necklace for her that we left inside of it. It has since been dubbed her "special box," where all her most precious things are put into it. Sometimes she'll take it out and just wind it up and watch the horse spin round-and-round while listening to the music. She's learned to take care of it: no slinging, no slamming the lid, make sure the horse's springs aren't caught in the closure, don't over-wind the music.
The covering is a paper-overlay. Certainly not the best quality, but very cute for the price, and has held up well these past 6 months. I imagine it will be something that stays with her throughout her adulthood, if she continues to take the care of it that she is now.
I'm VERY happy with this purchase!
