Toys and Games Reviews of Schylling Summer Bug Tin Tea SetCustomer Review: Just ok for us Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered this set for my daughter's 2 yr. birthday. It is cute with pretty colors and I liked that it wasn't as breakable as porcelain tea sets. However, the little metal knob on the lid to the teapot did break off and definitely is a health hazard for little people as they could swallow the whole lid or the piece that broke off. The set is very small and it bends out of shape very easily. My daughter hasn't really played with it very much over the 9 months that we have had it but she hasn't really gotten in to the tea party thing either. That probably has more to do with personality then age though. She also tends to be rather rough with toys as well which is probably why our tin set is bent up :) Overall, it's a cute set and if your child is little (again, this is a small tea set),tends to be gentle and likes to play tea party, she may very well enjoy this set. If your child tends to be rough and prefer more active activities, there may be a better toy out there for them that they would enjoy more.
Customer Review: A huge hit with my daughter Summary: 5 Stars
I got this for my 21 month old and it is her favorite thing right now. You can not pass her room without being dragged in for a tea party. I looked at several sets before deciding on this one and it was honestly the tin and cuteness that made me go for this set. The tin is very durable, there isn't anything that looks like it would ever go jagged or anything. The set is really cute too, the little bug faces are all smiling and adorable.
When I pulled the set out of the box I thought it was a bit small at first. The plates are about 3 1/2 inches in diameter and the saucers about 2", the bottom of the tea pot is the same size as one of the plates and about 3" high. But it actually is the perfect size for a little girl. My daughter is only 21 months, but she is a big 21 months and it really is the right size for her hands and the cups even fit into a couple of her dolls hands so they can hold a cup of tea too!
Customer Review: super cute tea set Summary: 5 Stars
my two year old daughter loves this set. When we received it in the mail I was a little dissapointed that it is so small, much smaller then I had anticipated. The nice thing about the size though is that I can put a little water in it and it doesnt make that much of a mess because she cant pour out much water. The durability of the tea cups is a little flimsy in the handles, my daughter wants to stick her finger in but the hole is to small so it seems like its starting to bend a bit. I dont know how much longer the handles will hold up. The tray has already bent and warped just from regular use. I still think its a wonderful teaset and would buy it again. the colors are really adorable as well. for the most part it is a perfect set.
Customer Review: Two and a half years later and we're still playing with it Summary: 5 Stars
Now, call me a "mean mom" but I never let my kid use water for her tea time play. We just pretended and that was beyond fine for my daughter. I purchased this for her 2nd birthday and now that she's 4 and moved onto My Little Ponies... my 21mo old is taking an interest and is playing with it. Some of the paint is scratched off since I also purchased a small flatware kit to go with it and she would pretend to cut cake on the plates... and the poor serving tray was stepped on once so it's not exactly flat anymore... BUT two and half years later after many tea parties, it's still fun to play with. For the price I would certainly say I got my money's worth!
Customer Review: TINY TINY the cups are half the size of an egg in its shell Summary: 1 Stars
I KNOW it was my job to check dimensions but still...this thing is so little there is nothing to it. My three year old played with it for about ten mniutes and got bored. The print is cute but for a tea party....it needs to be at least a normal size and it was just in my opinion, a total waste of money, way too exensive for its size. If it were bigger it may have been worth the 18 bucks I spent on it. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Find one that has more to do and that is a bigger.
