Toys and Games Reviews of Schylling Jack-In-The-BoxCustomer Review: box of disappointment Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this for my daughter and she really liked the idea of it, but it never really worked very well. Often times, Jack would pop out the box without warning and getting him back in was always a hassle. The clip is supposed to hold him inside when the song ends, but it didn't alawys secure Jack in the box. Eventually, the clip broke and fell in the box and now Jack is permanently out the box. I contacted the manufacturer because I thought we may have rec'd a defective model, but they ignored me. My daughter is not rough with her toys at all- she takes very good care of them , so I have to assume this is a cheap toy and a waste of money.
Customer Review: Great toy, great for teaching patience and manual dexterity Summary: 5 Stars
This is truly a great toy. No wonder it won the Dr. Toy award! We bought this for our little one when he was two and he just loved it from the start. One thing we spend time on is aural teaching which this toy certainly plays a part. In order to get the "ornery" clown back into the box, the song has to play completely and then you hear a little click, that's when the clown will stay in the box. Teach your child to listen for that click and you will be teaching him patience and how to closely pay attention. Great, great toy. Ours is used all the time and doesn't even look as if it's ever been out of the box. Highly recommend!
Customer Review: adequate, nothing special Summary: 3 Stars
This jack-in-the-box has traditional styling that is attractive and appealing. The music box works well, as does the crank. The spring on the jack is tight and effective - he really jumps out, and the spring doesn't weaken after repeated use. However, the sheet metal used to make the box and top are a lighter gauge than I would like. The clasp on the box top is flimsy. Also, the base of the box is cardboard with the design printed on. I paid around $16 total for it, and was disappointed with the lightweight construction at that price. I thought that for the money, it should have a sturdier construction.
Customer Review: Glad I bought it Summary: 4 Stars
My daughter seems to love the element of surprise so I thought this would be a good toy. It was a first birthday gift. She points at it all the time so that I will take it off the shelf. We have to play with it together right now - her little hands can't quite handle it yet. She loves trying to stuff Jack back in the box. She gets impatient for him to pop up, so it is teaching her to wait for her reward! This toy is well made and will be one that we don't get rid of for a long time since it is a "classic" and not just the usual plastic junk.
Customer Review: fun, cute, not haunted! Summary: 5 Stars
Santa brought this for our newly two year old son. He LOVES it. He can crank and close it most of the time with out any problems, I do have to remind him which way to turn it sometimes.
We have not found it any where we didn't leave it and have never had it pop up in our face in the middle of the night, so to the felow with these problems perhaps you either 1.) need not watch IT any more or 2.) investigate if your house was built on any indian grave yards.
If you want your kids to enjoy an old beloved toy then well buy buy buy.
