Customer Review: Bizarre little toy

I thought this would be a game and a different penguin might win each time. . .hence the name "Penguin Race". Nope. It is just three penguins going up the escalator and round and round the track. It is extremely well made and durable. My children enjoyed watching the penguins for a while, but, in the end, they are much too old (6,9,10) to enjoy it for more than a short time. On the shelf it goes. I will hand it down to my 3 year old nephew because I think smaller children will find it more enjoyable. And yes, it is loud. . .squeak, squeak, squeak. My children and I did enjoy seeing our year old standard poodle try to figure out what the heck was going on with the penguins.Customer Review: My kids can't get enough of this silly toy.

I bought this toy on a whim a few days before Christmas. I was expecting it to be one of those toys played with on Christmas Day and then never again. I was so wrong. This cheap, silly toy is still my girls' favorite toy. They are 2 1/2 and 18 mo so I keep it high on a shelf and only let them play with it when I or my husband can supervise (which may, admittedly, lend to the appeal). They squeal in delight every time they play with it, screaming "WHHEEE" whenever the penguins slide down. My youngest can say "penguin" and knows which one is the black one, red one, and blue one making this rather ridiculous toy actually educational. I highly recommend this.Customer Review: WOW! The kids love this!
As soon as they enter the house the penguins are activated and go up the hill and slide down the slides to the delight of the kids. The cute little squeeking noises (ostensibly intended to be the noise the penguins are making) can wear on your nerves after several hours, but it's faint enough that you can step out of the room to get away from it.
The kids (4-6 years of age) laugh and play with the penguins - and the adults seem to be quite taken with it as well! All in all it seems to be durable as the kids certainly have put it through its paces already.
Well worth the money!

I bought this because I thought it would be great for my son, who is 3.5 and has autism. Well, I was certainly right! He LOVES this toy. It captivates him - it is something he enjoys to watch. He has a look of delight on his face when playing with this. That reason alone makes this toy worth it to me - but WOW, is this toy horribly ANNOYING!!!! It makes a VERY loud squeaking/chirping sound in a very fast, CONSTANT way, and as other reviewers have said, there is NO way to turn it off.
So in sum - GREAT for kid (particularly autistic) - NOT great for parents and anyone who has to LISTEN to this thing!!!

Reading these reviews, I'm almost sheepish to admit -- my kids aren't on the autism spectrum, and they love to watch this toy go around. It's a Christmas tradition for us, so I can stand the sound for one month a year. Stores easily, and it seems like it will last forever.
The little penguins have tiny metal wheels, so if you have some sort of heirloom coffee table, you might not want the kids taking the penguins off the toy and wheeling them around on your table. (Think placemat or table runner) (or floor).
Fantastic toy for the price -- you won't regret it.
