Toys and Games Reviews of SetCustomer Review: You will be seeing these shapes in your sleep Summary: 5 Stars
Highly addictive game because there are no turns, just every body whaling away at once. Trying to match up these shapes and colors becomes maddening after awhile. It is quite easy to get lost and see no matches what so ever and all of a sudden your brain will just click and you will be seeing sets everywhere. This is a very simple game to learn and very hard to master. First time players will get frustrated very easily if they are playing with SET veterans. The idea is to match any three cards on the table by having all of the card's characteristics being all the same or all different. Your spatial reasoning will get a real work out as you play through the deck the number of times equal to the number of players. Points are scored for each successful set and points are lost for incorrectly picking a set(which happens alot when everyone is in a hurry to find the next set.). A great great game that is loads of fun but a real mental workout.
Customer Review: All ages can play together--great family game! Summary: 5 Stars
This is on my list of must own games. It's a classic game that you'll always want around. I am constantly on the look out for games that will help train my kids' brains to see things in new ways and also provide some good family time. Set works for every age, all reading levels, and breaks language barriers (you can play this in any country). I enjoy playing with my kids or with other adults. Since the game is a deck of cards, it's easy for travel.
I watched as a friend of one of my kids made fun of the game. I understood that child "didn't get it" so I made the deck easier so she could learn the concept and to get her started. It did not take long for her to understand and grow with it. Every kid deserves the "leg up" of using their brains in different ways. Play Mozart, but play Set too.

Customer Review: Learn a lot but have fun too! Summary: 5 Stars
I first came across this game in 1994 and have been hooked ever since. Not only is it mathematically rich (there are lots of probability questions that you can pose and solve in classroom settings), but it improves your visual perception and acuity the more you play it!Adults love it, and kids love it too. You don't have to be brilliant to play, but it can be tricky at first. As with many things, practice makes perfect. And just wait until your kids start making sets faster than you do! I've used this in classrooms with kids as young as 9, and have seen their abilities to spot patterns increase tenfold. And the kicker is that the kids don't even realize that they are learning and sharpening their ability to think critically. A great game - tons of fun! And even if you are "afraid" of math and think you aren't a "math person" you will love this game! Especially if you like puzzles and trying to figure things out.
Customer Review: Fun brain exercise for all ages - My family loves this game! Summary: 5 Stars
Our family loves this game more than any other game we've played together. Our 4-year-old plays right along with the rest of us. It is an engaging exercise in pattern matching that provides equal footing for players of all ages (ages 4-5 and up).
Our seven-year old can win this game against her elders without any "special rules" or other such condescensions. Usually games that young children can realistically play and win are based on chance and don't involve much thinking.
This game is based on the ability to mentally organize four categories and is quick and easy to learn, without waiting turns and without many rules to learn. These features also make it very easy to play with people who have never played it before. There is not much they need to know before starting the game. (Hint: study the examples on the box to jump-start your understanding.)
An excellent game, just excellent!
Customer Review: SET is an awesome game for everyone! Summary: 5 Stars
SET is one of those rare games that is fun, educational, and appropriate for almost all ages all in one! I've known people who've used it in math classes, field trips, and parties. It's also a favorite at my college gaming club (we've nicknamed it the "Oh my head hurts" game, you'll see why). It invloves making sets of shapes, colors, patterns, and numerical groupings, but you can read those details in the rule pamplet. It may take a few rounds to understand what makes a true set, but once you get going it's hard to stop! It can be very competitive or very social (or both). You can have any number of players, and nothing else is required except the deck of cards so it's quite portable. A tip: if possible, it's good to start playing it with someone who's played before, so you can look at their sets to try to understand why it qualifies as a set if you're confused. A highly reccomended game!
