Customer Review: Perfect for Family Dinners
Summary: 5 Stars

Since reading Laurie David's FAMILY DINNER, I've been extra focused on making meal time as fun and meaningful as possible. TABLE TOPICS are a wonderful way to get the ball rolling.

Each box contains 135 question cards. The box itself is a shiny clear lucite cube that is good looking enough to leave out on the table and would also make a lovely presentation for a gift ideal for hostesses and holidays. It has weight and feels good in your hand.

The Family Edition has been on our table for a good week and it really has sparked some fun conversations. If you are using them with young children, you could easily rotate a couple of different themes (Family Edition and Original , for example) as answers will change and questions will be forgotten.

My son is crazy about these. Now when we sit down for a meal he asks excitedly, "where are the questions?" We took them with us to the Thai restaurant and not only did it occupy him while we waited for our food, one of the owners of the restaurant was fascinated with them and wanted some for her family.

Customer Review: A Good Starting Point
Summary: 4 Stars

We often use Family Time Fun Dinner Games and Activities to keep our 10 year old and 5 year old engaged at dinner (and the games often carry over to car rides, etc.). I thought this would be a fun addition and give us some more starting points for talking topics. We usually don't have a lot of trouble getting conversations going but my 10 year old seems to talk less and less as he gets older...

But, he loves to read these cards and start. Many of the topic starters are too advanced for my 5 year old and some of them are silly but there are plenty to chose from.

They come in a very sturdy plastic case that protects the cards nicely.

These might be fun for family a get-together or cocktail hour with good friends.

Most people with some understanding of the art of conversation probably won't need these cards but they can certainly open up some fun discussions that you may never think of starting.

Customer Review: The perfect gift
Summary: 5 Stars

Dinners at my house were turning into a battle of the wills, and quickly loosing enjoyment for any of us. My motivation to invest time and energy into preparing the meal was waning. Purchasing this product was my last attempt to rescue family meal times. And it works! These wonderful little cards now have a permanent spot on our kitchen table, and a meal wouldn't be complete without them. The box is extremely durable and definitely contributes to the high cost, but it looks nice enough to leave out. We've usually just started eating when the kids (ages 9, 4, 2) ask for a question. It is fun to go around the table and each answer the same question, starting with the youngest. The answers make us laugh and appreciate our kids in new ways. Best of all, it distracts from vegetables and finishing your milk.

I can imagine taking the box on road trips for fun in the car. This is now my go-to gift for new parents or as a hospitality gift.

The questions are very age appropriate for my 4- and 9-year-olds.

Customer Review: It really works!
Summary: 5 Stars

My two teenage sons are growing up to be wonderful men, but our dinner conversations have degraded over the last several years. Take a small amount of teenage angst mixed with schoolyard humor, testosterone and a couple of irreverent senses of humor and you can paint the picture of what the conversations were like. Half the time they had me laughing so much I couldn't eat, and the rest of the time I was holding my head in my hands in frustration. I didn't want to be overbearing, and I do enjoy their senses of humor, but it was getting where we never had a decent conversation and I was desperate to find something to change the situation.

I bought this product as an experiment and was amazed at the results. Even the most reluctant of the two teenagers came around and was engaged in the conversation. We talked about things that would never have come up in our normal conversations and I learned some things about my kids I never knew.

Customer Review: Good conversation ideas for the most part
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought these 'family edition' cards to start new conversations at dinner. Before these, the topic was usually 'how was your day?'-that gets a little boring. I was excited when these arrived & set them in the middle of the table with the S&P & napkins. The younger kids (9) are excited to pick a card & read the question for everyone. There are times when the question is pretty short & can be answered quickly with little elaboration. For example, a card asked if anyone was picked on in school. All 3 kids answered 'no'-so that was that really. Of course my husband & I had stories from our youth, but they really didn't take that long, so we picked another card. The best part about these cards is that everyone stays at the table longer, therefore we spend a little more quality time together. I thought they were a little pricey, but they really are something everyone looks forward to now. I would definitely recommend.
