Toys and Games Reviews of Harry Potter Wand with light and sound

Customer Review: Not worth the money.
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought a wand for each of my two sons. When I opened the package, I was surprised at how poorly made it was. The battery cover barely stayed on and the light was broken on one of them after only an hour of play.
It should be sold at Dollar stores because it certainly isn't worth what I paid for them.

Customer Review: Harry Potter Wand
Summary: 3 Stars

I like how it's not sharp at the end. It's pretty fun to play with, my nephew enjoyed it. But it stopped making the sound about a week after playing with it. Maybe he was too rough with it?

Customer Review: Inexpensive entertainment
Summary: 4 Stars

This wand is made of soft plastic, so I wouldn't say it's going to last forever, but so far, it's been a fun toy for our little wizard. It makes cool-zap magic sounds and the tip (about an inch long) lights up (all you have to do is wave it in the air, so it's motion sensitive). For this price, it's worth it even if it doesn't last for years.

Customer Review: Solid Wand but Low-quality Electronics
Summary: 3 Stars

We purchased this wand for my three-year-old daughter who is obsessed with Harry Potter and loves to cast fake spells. The wand comes in a decent package and uses normal-sized batteries instead of tiny watch-size ones. (This is a plus since a previous wand we had took the small batteries, and they are expensive and annoying to replace.)

Anyway, the wand itself is a little thick, but that's probably a good thing since it proves to be fairly solid and durable overall. It does light up and make sounds when waved; there are three different sounds, but they're rather generic and lame sounding. Unfortunately, the electronic components (light and sound) are of substantially cheaper quality than the general build.

First off, getting the wand to light up and make sound takes a rather hard and swift wave, even for an adult. This made my daughter a little frustrated by it. Then, after about a week, the light and sound components stopped working consistently. Sometimes the sound will come on, and sometimes it won't. The light rarely comes on except once in a blue moon. It was disappointing to have a product fail like this after only a week.

Final verdict: The wand is fun enough to play with minus the light and sound, but paying the price for defective electronic components isn't so nice.

Customer Review: An inexpensive amusement
Summary: 3 Stars

You can't turn this toy off, so it is constantly discharging "magic." Which is kind of fun, because then you can pretend that you accidentally changed the couch into a kitten, or froze yourself. It is an inexpensive toy that satisfied the child's not quite completely articulated need for a "Harry Potter wand." It is actually more fun that I thought it would be. The noise is not too loud. That's a good thing.
