Customer Review: A Nicety I Could Have Lived Without!

This is just a large piece of plain bright yellow felt with an accompanying inflatable tube and a couple of straps! As such, I feel it was probably priced accordingly (under $10 on sale). Unfortunately for me, I didn't wind up actually using the tube or the straps to roll the puzzle up but was happy enough having the bright yellow background to put my dark puzzle pieces on. I do wish I had ironed the fold wrinkles out of the felt first, as that would have made assembling the puzzle a tad bit easier. In retrospect, I could have just used a large piece of cardboard for the puzzle background, as I eventually carefully transferred my puzzle onto a large piece of cardboard anyway in order to be able to put puzzle glue on my puzzle. Wish I had thought of that in the first place. However, if one has limited household space and is planning on disassembling their puzzle after completion, this product has value. For me, though, it turned out to be a nicety I could have lived without.Customer Review: A good idea with some flaws

The idea of storing a puzzle in progress is very appealing, but this mat has so many creases in it, that it made it very difficult to keep the puzzle flat while we were working on it.
The rolling-up part was not too difficult, and it unrolled nicely with the puzzle still intact.
I would prefer if it came with 3 bands instead of 2 so that it was more secure when rolled up.
The color of the mat is supposed to be a bright color so it makes it easier to see the peices, however the mat that I got is black.
It's also made of felt, so if you have pets, it will collect some hair.
I am going to attempt to iron the mat before using it again to see if this will help smooth it out.

Awesome product! You just have to inflate the tube and start the puzzle on the felt. Once you need a break, you just roll the felt with the puzzle on it around the tube and store it wherever you want.
Make sure that you roll it up tight and everything stays in place where it was when you did the break.
The yellow felt gives you a great contrast to the puzzle pieces.
I love it and I finally don't have to keep the puzzle on the table for all the time.
If there is any improvement possible, I could only think of having a larger mouth piece for blowing up the tube - but then, once it is inflated, you will never need it again.

The idea of this item is fantastic - but the way it's sold and designed makes me hate it. The mat comes folded, so there are creases that keep puzzle pieces from lying flat. Also, the felt makes it impossible to slide a piece into position. If there was a way to make the pieces more movable, it would make using this much easier. (I know the mat needs to be a bit "sticky," since it's designed for keeping the puzzle intact, but still, when not moving a puzzle from place to place, this makes for a very annoying "feature.")
Until this is repackaged so it's sold rolled (uncreased), I WOULD NOT advise anyone to purchase it.

I was a bit skeptical of this product before I purchased it but after reading all the reviews on Amazon I thought it was a good bet. It works very nicely. Not surprisingly, you do have to do a bit of refitting everytime you unroll it because some piece edges separate but it's not a big deal. I've noticed that as you complete more of the puzzle this becomes less of a problem. My only comment would be the size. I typically get puzzles no less than 1500 and this product was a bit too small for the average 1500 piece puzzle (unless it has unusual dimensions). Otherwise it's very nice AND washable, a plus after my cat annointed it.
