Toys and Games Reviews of Radio Flyer Wagon CanopyCustomer Review: Marginal Accessory. Summary: 3 Stars
We recently bought a Radio Flyer All-Terrain Wood and Steel Wagon for our 18-month-old boy. He's a little young, but he loves riding around in it. I expect that it's a toy that will get good use for many, many years to come.
My wife insisted on getting a canopy to go with the wagon. Our boy is fair skinned and she wanted it as protection from the intense Southern California sun. I agreed that it was appropriate, but I now have a lot of second thoughts.
It was real simple to put together and will fit all Radio Flyer Wagons whether it's steel or a combination of steel and wood, such as ours. The canopy fits on the wagon with four simple-to-use clamps. As soon as we got the wagon and canopy ready to roll we put the boy in it and rolled out the door. Well, wouldn't you know it, rain was falling. The canopy provided good cover for the little guy. It was a very nice walk!
The canopy is largely a failure as a sun shield. It works fine as long as the sun is directly overhead, and that amounts to only a very small portion of the day. If the sun comes in at any sort of an angle, the passenger is almost fully exposed because of the small area covered by the shield. One of the stiffeners in the canopy broke after the third using. To be honest, if I had to do it over again, I would go without the canopy. It looks interesting, but will spend most of the time gathering dust in our garage.

Customer Review: Kind of hard to assemble for the first time.... Summary: 4 Stars
This was a gift for my son for Christmas. Today was the first day that the weather was good enough to assemble it and give it a try.
I was a little out done by the amount of time it took me to assemble it and then put it on the wagon. It was a little tedious for me and would not recommend assembling it on an outing for the first time.
I left it up on the wagon in hopes that it would adjust its self now that it is out of the box. It comes with a take along bag but if it is as hard to assemble as it was this first time I will not be taking it off when we are at home at all.
We live on the Gulf Coast so it is imperative that children be shaded in the summer heat and this seems like a good product overall. The concept is very good I just hope it's easy to slap on when we go to the beach or to a festival, seeing that it's too large to keep up inside our SUV.
My overall comment is that I am happy for this product but the ease of it may not be the best. When it's the only product out there you just have to like it and love it. I am giving it a 4 star because the product its self seems to be durable at least.
Customer Review: Great idea but poor quality Summary: 2 Stars
Unfortunately, we're on our third one since we purchased the first one 18 months ago. The clamps are very fragile and will literally come apart in your hands without even a discernible "snap" after about 6 months. The nylon fabric itself is easily worn through if you accidentally rub the canopy on say, a fence, as you are passing. We have always stored our wagon with the canopy set up in our garden shed or inside under our stairs, so it's not that it's been left outside in the elements apart from when we are using it, nor have the clamps been repeatedly opened and closed.
However, it fits the wagon perfectly , is collapsible (if that matters to you) and provides excellent shelter in all the weather we have encountered during our daily walks to school in England. So we have reluctantly ordered another one. I just wish it was as durable as the wagon it is designed for. :-(
Customer Review: Slightly frustrating Summary: 3 Stars
I bought a Radio Flyer 2900 wagon, without a canopy. They do not offer the wagons with canopies where I live, so I was ecstatic when I saw Radio Flyer made a one size fits all variant. Long story short, it doesn't fit all. It doesn't even really fit my 2900. I have to position the clips at specific angles to get the canopy on, and even that is a bit of a challenge. And I've not taken my kids out around the neighborhood yet without at least one leg of the canopy coming loose.
The 2900 has angled sides where the outside of the sides is not parallel with the inside sides. This prevent the canopy from acquiring and maintaining a steady grip. If your wagon has sides that are uniformly less than 1.5" thick at the corners facing outboard then you should be fine.
Customer Review: Great Addition To Our Wagon Summary: 5 Stars
We use this all the time. I'm not sure why others have had problems with it breaking. We have been very rough on ours for over a year now and have had no issues at all. We have had it on our all terrain wagon everywhere we go with it. It's been attached and removed countless times with no trouble at all. We don't even bother to fold it all the way down most times. We usually just remove it from the wagon and then clamp the left side clips to each other and the right side clips to each other so that it is easier to handle in and out of the car.
It's been to the beach, the pumpkin patch, camping, walks around our neighborhood, lots of parks, and many other places in different kinds of weather. We love it!
