Customer Review: Great fun for my kid!

I bought this last spring for my then three-and-a-half year old daughter. While she is quite tall for her age, the pedals were juuuuuust out of reach whenever she turned the wheel. But she still had a blast!
Forward to now - my daughter is now four, and can pedal just great on it. She is still on the shortest seat setting, and the bike has been an outdoor-only bike since we got it, but is showing no wear at all, minus the loss of one sticker. :) Every time the weather gets at all nice, she comes to me and says, "Mommy, I'd like to go ride my big wheel!"
I bought this because of other reviews saying the bike was well made, durable, and because it was the only one I saw at the time that had the flag on it (which is plenty high to see from a car level - major plus in my book just in case!). So far, all of those positive reviews have held to be true.
When I watch her ride this bike I remember my big wheel that I had when I was a kid, and how much I loved it (and how much use my sisters and I got out of our original 70's Big Wheel, hehe). I am anticipating just as much fun and excitement for my kids on this bike, and I think it's going to easily last until they're ready for two-wheeled bicycles.

I just got this for my son because his Original Big Wheel finally broke down. That being the very best riding toy *ever*, it was difficult to replace. You can no longer buy a quality version of the Original Big Wheel (company went out of business and new company producing is making a cheap/bad version?), so we got this. It looks cool, and the rubbery front wheel is great. Also love the flag. Bad things: (1) handlebars should curve back to make them easier for kids to hold and (2) both my kids say the seat back is very uncomfortable. I probably would have sent this back right away knowing this, but the kids had already ridden it for a while before I realized they weren't comfortable. The seat back digs in when they lean back. I'm going to have to fashion some kind of cushion over it, believe it or not, so they'll ride this thing. That's a major drawback, and not something I look forward to doing after spending $70 on a toy. And my kids aren't wimps. They've never complained about anything like this before. They rode the Original Big Wheel day in, day out for three years, all over the neighborhood. Never one single complaint. Nothing but fun. I purchased this big wheel for my 3 year old daughter. We already own the Twist big wheel by Radio Flyer, which is a wonderful big wheel, and in my opinion better than this one.I didn't get another since my daughter liked her older brother's (4YO) big wheel low rider part and didn't need the tricycle part, plus we already had one.This was easy for me to put together.It does have a longer leg length than the Twist big wheel so now my son rides this one, and my daughter rides his. My daughter is tall for her age. It is just enough of a length that my daughter isn't comfortable yet. As one other review said, the back of the seat does hurt their back. In fact they both had three bruises on their backs after riding this. My husband ended up wrapping the back of the seat in several layers of duck tape and it has fixed the problem. We aren't sure what part was hurting their back because it isn't obvious, but it is fixed now. So just be aware of that. Overall the big wheel is great and used daily here! Seems very sturdy and the flag is cool.In hind site, I should of gone with another Twist and Trike(?) by Radio Flyer, because I have had it for over a year and that is their favorite (no pain).Customer Review: Classic Big Wheel FUN w Radio Flyer Quality BIG HIT 4 two!!

My 2 sons needed the big wheel experience. For the education minded parents, they needed the thrill of their heightened imagination as they learned the laws of physics. This toy is perfect in size-1 child is 6y, 46.5 inches and has his seat placed in the last of the three settings with legs fully stretched. His feet arent trying to reach and yet he will still have plenty of room for more growth. I was nervous with the size since the box picture child is younger and the other brands build theirs more for nine year olds or the really tall kids. In stores, he never came close to reaching the others pedals. My 4y old is 44 inches and enjoys the seat at its second setting. He has his knees more bent and gets more leverage and control. The front tires softer red rubber adds the much appreciated extra traction that others neglect. The back are the typical smooth tires, not great for bigger inclines, perfect for big wheel spin outs. The first one took this mom with no power tools 40 minutes to assemble, the second one 20 minutes. Requires hammer, phillips screw driver and a cresent wrench or pliers. I think both is a plus for tightening. Simply achieved for ecstatic children.Customer Review: quality product!

Having previously purchased a "Big Wheel", and disappointed in it's quality, we were delighted to find the quality alternative in the Radio Flyer Big Flyer. The Big Flyer has a well engineered design that is considerably superior to the BW. Right away we appreciated the widely spaced pedal shafts so our 2 1/2 yo grandson can't get his feet wedged between the pedal and the wheel, which happened constantly on the BW. Secondly we appreciate the way the handle bars are engineered, in that they are easy to turn - not true on the Big Wheel. Finally, we like the sturdy feel and attention to detail - like plastic covers over exposed bolts etc. Great stuff! Our grandson wouldn't ride the BW, but calls the Radio Flyer his motorcycle and is very comfortable with it.
note: We are using inexpensive pedal blocks to help him reach the pedals -he is just a hair too short for the pedals, but is able to scoot himself if he wants. Couldn't do that on the BW.
