Toys and Games Reviews of Radica 20Q Artificial Intelligence Game - Colors may vary since the item may come in 3 different colorsCustomer Review: 4-1/2 stars -- Addictive is an understatement Summary: 4 Stars
I had never heard of this hand-held game before until my brother showed up with it this past Sunday. 20Q (meaning "twenty questions") was apparently mentioned in a USA Today article, and it's basically a game where you think of literally any object, and the computer asks you twenty very unique questions about the object. There are four answers you can give: YES, NO, SOMETIMES, or UNKNOWN. And the first question is always whether what you're thinking of is an animal, vegetable, mineral, or other or unknown object.
This game may not sound all that exciting to some people, but when you pick it up, I guarantee you won't be able to put it down. Apparently I'm not the only person that thinks so, considering that it seems to be sold out everywhere but on here. The only real problem with it is that it doesn't have an easy-access battery case -- you actually have to take a screwdriver and unscrew the case. But other than that, 20Q is a great game to have -- and it wouldn't be a bad gift to give to someone, either.

Customer Review: Some of the best multi-generational fun we've had Summary: 5 Stars
I got this for Christmas and everyone was immediately enchanted. Like others have said it quickly becomes people trying to figure out how to trick it. I then took it to work (bunch of Paper Making Engineers) quickly decided they could beat it. But when in 20 guesses it got Zebra correct and in 25 guessed Air they admitted they 1) All wanted one of their own 2) I was to never bring it to work again as we wouldn't get anything done if they did.
It now sits on our counter and periodically one of us will pick it up and play a round or two.
Great fun for all ages and rather fun in a group to see if someone in the group can guess faster than the toy!
It is easy to use, you answer yes, no, sometimes or unknown to each question it asks you. You can also speed up or slow down how fast the text scrolls. Easily fits into the hand of an adult but can also rest on a table for a younger person. You must be about to read to play this game.
Customer Review: Scary! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter (11) got this at an office Christmas Party - hadn't heard of it before. It is a LOT of fun. We tried a good range of words - cloud, soccer ball, sofa, star, mailbox, snowmobile, many others, even tried the game itself (that was fun). It rarely misses, & it works in a way that you usually are completely surprised by when it will make its guess, which adds a lot to the fun of the game. You shouldn't get carried away & make the object very specific - certain species of fish, for example, but it's more fun to try to come up with common objects/animals & then watch the thing go to work. The educational part I think is watching how deductive reasoning can allow you to solve a problem perhaps. It's fun to try to tell which question allowed the machine to find the answer, & to guess when it is getting close to solving the thing. Also, I think it makes kids more aware of the characteristics of everyday objects & animals. A lot of family fun in a small package!
Customer Review: 20Q will read your mind! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great stocking stuffer, or a great gift for that someone who has everything. It is a real conversation piece. You think of something and answer 20 questions using 4 buttons: Yes, No, Unknown, Sometimes. After 20 questions, it answers and 90% of the time it gets it right. If it misses, it asks 5 more questions and half of the time, it gets it right. We have tested this using all kinds of things: hot air balloon, deer, penguin, duck, ghost, quarter, house, bottle of wine, can of soda, sunflower, gummy bear, and even: me. It is, however, unaware of its own existance and guessed "game boy" while I was thinking of it.
If it doesn't get the answer correct after 2 tries, it still tends to come very close. The only thing negative thing I have to say is it is sold here for an expensive $20, when you can get it at your local store in the "kids toys / electronic games" aisle for less than $10 in your choice of color: blue, purple, red, orange.
Customer Review: Feel like I'm 'wrong' for not liking this, everyone else does... Summary: 1 Stars
Sheesh, I feel like I must be doing something 'wrong' because I can't get this silly little game to beat me! Doesn't matter how simple my original thought is, nor how honestly I answer (since you can't really NOT be honest--I mean, why would you LIE to a toy??), the thing gives up after about three questions.
And it's not just this particular toy because I've tried numerous others when I go into stores all the time.
I began with obscure things to TRY to stump it, but then I simplified to easy things (because I was so frustrated)--like 'toy' and 'store' and I STILL couldn't even get 'em to guess those!
I read all these reviews and felt like a crazy person--I'm like the only one who thinks it's stupid and a waste of money and time, but I truly never got this toy to actually guess what I was thinking.
Heck, if I had to try something more than 50 times, and it still doesn't do what it says it will, I'm done with it!!
