Customer Review: Terrible!

I am shocked at this. I am not a negative reviewer - in fact, this is the first negative review I have written. It is Christmas day and I am disappointed enough to be sitting at the computer instead of being with my family - but this had to be done. I feel like we have been deceived by the other reviews (do all of these people have some relationship to the manufacturer or something?). Our 9 year old boy loves anything related to baseball. When he opened this he was really excited. However, it wasn't more that 20 minutes before he unplugged it.
Here are the details:
1) Upon opening the package you can immediately sense that this is a very cheaply made game. The plastic is thin, the buttons are clunky, and the cables are too short, etc.
2) Hook-up was easy. Single video cable and mono-audio. (mono? really?)
3) Once I changed the input source on the TV and turned the game on, the entire screen was frozen up with distorted "blocky" graphics. I changed the input, checked the cables, etc. After turning the device on and off a couple of times we got the video to start up.
4) Graphics. Think late 1980s quality graphics (think Atari). Low-res, choppy, very, very poorly done.
5) Usage. Ok, we overcame the low quality, but all of the reviews said that the game play was fun. For whom I cannot tell! If you've played ANY video game since 1995 you will be disappointed in this. The controls are counter intuitive, the precision is horrid, and the basic fundamentals of the sport are lacking.
6) Play. Here is the worst aspect of the game by far. Don't think this is a "Wii-style" game - it isn't. (I am not 100% sure how the devices work) But it feels like there is a weight in the ball-controller and another in the bat-handle. By essentially shaking the ball or bat you create the sense of movement. That translates into having to go through silly hand motions just to get the pitcher to throw, batter to swing, etc. Terrible!
One item to note: once we decided to return this we discovered that once you put together the bat, its irreversible - and the assembled bat does not fit into the original packaging. I hope Amazon accepts the return in a different box.
So there you have it - my first terrible review. I feel ripped off. If I had bought this at the dollar store I wouldn't be so upset, but for $[...] I expected something far better.
You have been warned. This is a piece of junk - don't trust the other reviews!!
