We have had it a year and every kid that comes to our house uses it and loves it. You will even see shy kids come out of their shell. My toddler likes to tell joke and hit the drum roll. We just took it to a party, and the kids used it like rock stars, now the mic seem very quite. It might need new batteries (first time, thanks to its autoshut down), but my husband thinks it wet from the kids "mouthing it"Customer Review: Awesome!

My daughter just turned 3 and we got this for her birthday. She absolutely loves to sing and this was the perfect gift. The sound quality is decent. But for the price you pay, no complaints there! The only "annoying" thing is that the microphone doesn't "stay put" too well on the clip. But it doesn't seem to bother her. She likes to take it off and rock out anyway.Customer Review: Great Toy

I was concerned about durability because of the previous reviews, but I learned that Motormax has actually corrected the faulty wiring. According to them, as of May 2010 this item includes a new style of microphone cord that is higher quality. I did notice all of the reviews about defects are from old purchases. My daughter loved this toy but it broke on the 2nd day of use. A lot of people are reporting the same issue - the microphone jack is faulty. The contacts inside the jack come apart and the plug at the end of the mic cable doesn't connect.
This is a defect that many people seem to have, so don't buy this product until they fix this issue!

I disregarded the negative reviews thinking how generally gentle my Niece is with new toys. It still managed to break quickly. She still plays with it but I think it's going to become a cordless, batteryless prop. It's a shame because it's great for precocious linguists with a great imagination. It may end up in the trash quite soon.
