Customer Review: Chinese Checkers: The Ancient Simple Little Game
Summary: 3 Stars
Though it isn't phenominal, it is an enjouyable game.
I wouldn't get it if you have worries about young children
putting things in their mouths -there are MANY marbles.
On the other hand, for children too young to play it does make a fun little toy.
The board is actually a tray of card board, and if the directions
don't already say so I would advice keeping it in the box for support while you play. The board's somewhat flimsy, and can get easily damaged if it's used without the constraints of it being kept in the game box.
Educational-wise: The game consists of jumping over the other player's marbles (like regular checkers) in order to get all your pieces in the triangle on the other side of the board. So perhaps it's very elementary mathmatic but not particularly. It does have a moderate ammount of strategic methods that coudl be developed while playing (Nothing too hard, a 5-6 year old could learn how to play.)
Tips from my experience:
-Keep good track of the marbles, as small little balls they can be easily lost.
-Take care of the board. As I said above it's a little flimsy.

Colorful, sturdy game board, 60 plastic marbles and rules For 2 to 6 players ages 7 and upThe object is simple enough in Chinese Checkers. Each player starts with 10 plastic marbles situated in the point of a star. During the game, players move their marbles across the board until they're all neatly settled in the opposite point. The fun comes in designing a strategy that allows marbles to move more than one space at a time. Clever players will position some of their marbles as jumping stations. With a good jump route, players can move marbles greater distances in a single turn. But they should be aware that the opposition can make use of the same route. As the game progresses, players will end up jumping their own marbles and any others that fall conveniently in their path. For two to six players, the first player to get their marbles across the board wins. featuring a ancient Chinese dragon motif, the cardboard game board is 12 inches square.
