This is great for chess instruction for a whole group. Everyone can see the board well. Also use it outdoors, "garden chess" in decent weather.
Very nice for what it is, though the pieces, 4-8" tall, are a bit lighter than I would have hoped. As someone else noted, they are hollow and could have sand or something similar to fill them and weigh them down. It's on the to-do list...

This large chess set was the centerpiece for our theatrical production. The pieces are distinctly designed and "read" well from the set. After the show, our actors autographed the sturdy green felt base of individual pieces and donated the set to our school auction. Very nice chess set to teach my grandson's how to play chess. They really enjoyed the set. When ever they come over to my house they always want to play chess. Shipping was a little pricey, but well worth it. The chess pieces are a nice size and somewhat sturdy. I've always wanted to learn how to play chess and teach my kids how to play. My kids were fascinated by the size of the pieces. My only criticism is that it should have come with a case. Once you open the box, you then have to figure out storage options. But, it's a great twist on a classic game! Well worth the money!Customer Review: Much bigger than I expected!

I wasn't expecting this chess set to be as large as it is. I am very happy with the size. This was a gift for my husband, who is a chess fan, and he loves it. It's also an easy board that is good for teaching someone how to play, which is what my husband intends to do with me. Great value for the price!
