Toys and Games Reviews of Music & Lights Sit 'n Spin: Rockin' Tunes

Customer Review: can be hazardous
Summary: 2 Stars

Our 15 month old daughter loves her sit and spin, LOVES IT!. We didn't put batteries in it because we read the complaints about the music. She used it every day. The problem is that whenever we go to move it, the top hand wheel pops off, so you have to pick it up by the entire base. Lesson learned, easy fix, just use more care. Until last night, when she was gleefully smiling and spinning, the hand wheel popped off, and she banged her head on the floor. My baby's not much of a crier, but boy did she cry after that! I may try the liquid nails that another person recommended, because she loves this toy sooo much. Just be aware of the hazard!

Customer Review: ON & OFF SWITCH PLEASE!!!
Summary: 3 Stars

OHMY! IS THIS THING LOUD? MY DAUGHTER RECEIVED THIS AS A GIFT AND I AM GRATEFUL BUT WISHING IT WAS THE ORIGINAL.
THIS NEW TAKE ON A CLASSIC TOY IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT WE GREW UP WITH. MY 21-MONTH OLD SLIDES OFF IT, AND CAN VERY EASILY PULL THE "TURNER" RIGHT OUT OF ITS BASE. IT EVEN COMES OFF WHILE SHE'S SPINNING.
AND THE SOUND? WOW! I MUST SAY, TOYS ARE GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER. WE SEARCHED THE WHOLE TOY FOR AN ON & OFF SWITCH. NOTHING! WE CAN'T EVEN MOVE THE TOY A FEW INCHES WITHOUT IT GOING OFF.
MY ADVICE-DO NOT BUY IT. UNLESS YOU LOVE LOUD ANNOYING MUSIC AND HELPING YOUR CHILD PUT THE TOY BACK TOGETHER EVERY 20 SECONDS.

Customer Review: Wish they would've left this toy alone
Summary: 3 Stars

I remember the Sit N Spin from my own childhood, without the lights and music - just a simple toy my friends and I had fun with, based on it's concept.

Now, it has become another electronic nightmare - with nonstop music, no on/off switch for the music, no volume controls...all the noise adds nothing to the concept of the toy whatsoever. The music is LOUD and seems to go non-stop if the child even glances at they toy!

My daughter (21 months) seems to enjoy it - although she ends up throwing it around the room as much as sitting on it. I think it will be a fun toy for her as time goes on, and for her parents once the batteries wear out!

Customer Review: Toddlers like this, too.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this on a whim for my 15-month old son, thinking he'd play with it later. Was I wrong! He's very active for his age and has no fear. He immediately began spinning himself and loves it. He also likes to put his toys on it and learn about centrifugal force. I tend to buy items for him much earlier than the stated age recommendations listed. If you have an active child, consider this item. By the way, I didn't insert batteries when I assembled it because I didn't want to have to deal with the noise and he hasn't missed it. (When I was a kid we didn't have flashing lights and music on our toys, and we turned out fine, right?)

Customer Review: classic fun, but lacks durability
Summary: 4 Stars

I start by saying I'm totally in love with the new sit & spin. While I agree with the statement "why improve on spinning around & getting dizzy?" my daughter really loves playing the music, so great. Also, I love the fact that she's playing on a toy that I enjoyed until the age of 11, I think.

However, I would definitely have paid $5-10 more in exchange for a sturdier toy, perhaps with a heavier base, the way the older models were made. The plastic is pretty flimsy, and it's too easy for my daughter to simply pull on the handle really hard while seated (thus completing the spinning motion) and tip the whole thing over.
